Today! Friday August 27th on Unplugged and Totally Uncut!!!

Ryan Jay is back! This week he's reviewing Candyman! A sequel to the 1992 film but told through the lens of the mindset and brilliant mind of Jordan Peele. It will leave you freaked out and thinking about it long after you experience it inside a real movie theater. Hey don't forget about Wicked Live this Sunday on PBS. It's a celebration of Broadways reopening and promises to be a true treat for all who have loved and supported Wicked. So about this bio pic No Man Of God. What is it about Ted Bundy that pulls fans of crime so close to the story? This one will feed that hunger you hold. Posts at 11am

Visibility.  Being present when the entire picture presents the story.  How often do we rewrite the beginning middle and end?  To stay away from a moment playing out because it doesn’t fit into what we see fit.  Dictionary.com defines visibility as the distance once can see as determined by light and weather conditions.  No wonder people hate having a nightmare!  The sun sets and the fear begins to build.  I live in a forest.  I’ve had an incredible relationship with this collection of trees for 29 years.  I’ve never walked through this forest at night.  Even with a flashlight I have limited visibility.  Not going to happen.  As a third degree black belt in martial arts we aren’t trained to attack the enemy but rather to steer clear of the possible danger.  I am to be aware of all things around me.  How many of us truly trust what we can’t see in darkness?  The decision is to stay away from doubt.  Once we enter an area where we can see again, the main mission is to stay with what we know.  So yes I do rewrite the beginning middle and end.  I don’t find favor in having a lack of visibility.  Awareness is the needle in the haystack.

To put words on a page requires a physical act of trust.  To believe in the spirit of expression.  To allow the art of self to have enough air to breathe.  The best part about being a writer is the process of release.  You can feel it leaving you like water flowing through a stream.  Drop the microphone I’m out of here.  Seriously, I don’t understand why people don’t write.  Does that make me bias?  We spend hours texting, posting on social media and hitting fast forward on the remote control.  To put words on a page requires just as much energy as having a verbal conversation. The flow of thought feels best when it’s being released.  Daily writing raises my blood pressure.  My doctor agrees.  He laughed about it and calmly asked for me to not write before visiting.  The emotion required to push ink into a page is a disciplined strength that’s called upon just to release a thought.  I often wonder about the Tom Clancy’s of the world.  What do they mentally go through to bring their paragraphs forward?  What does it take to create a thought that will reach beyond the page?  Will we come back one day and vibrantly question the moment, “What was I thinking?”  The essence of being present is a choice based on the acceptance of what is now.  You have to define the system of existence.  Remind your creative spirit that you are here.  Let it have the energy and fuel of trust and faith to evolve into a series of steps moving forward.  Now document it.  Put words on a page.  Make it a physical act of trust knowing that the best part about writing is releasing it.

Evolving Evolution

 <a class="spreaker-player" href="https://www.spreaker.com/episode/46231999" data-resource="episode_id=46231999" data-width="100%" data-height="200px" data-theme="light" data-playlist="false" data-playlist-continuous="false" data-chapters-image="true" data-episode-image-position="right" data-hide-logo="false" data-hide-likes="false" data-hide-comments="false" data-hide-sharing="false" data-hide-download="true">Listen to "Evolving Evolution" on Spreaker.</a><script async src="https://widget.spreaker.com/widgets.js"></script>

August 25, 2021

Evolving evolution.  I recently used this term during a lecture.  The head of the organization gave me the weirded oddest look.  As if to question my choice to use it.  Evolving evolution.  I’m not so crazy.  While evolution is looked upon as being a great discovery in the world of science, those who study it are perfectly clear about how it evolves. Change is every day!  Look at how we have evolved over the past nineteen months.  The way we fear has evolved.  The way we accept good and bad news has evolved.  The way we react with people we don’t see eye to eye with has evolved.  Too many see evolution as monkey becoming man.  There’s an evolution in the world of business.  What will happen when employees decide not to come back to the office?  Putting their private lives way ahead of the decision maker’s visions.  The best of the best have been threatened.  They will be replaced.  Does that mean all things business will be equal to an outlet mall?  It’s not the greatest but it’s still us.  How we did radio in 1981 versus 2021 is an evolving evolution of experiences that incoming broadcasters can’t comprehend.  Nor do they have the mindset and or perseverance to digest what was expected forty years ago.  So the question remains.  From your dot on the map.  What is your personal evolving evolution?  How have you changed and how is it going to affect all things in the decades ahead?

The glory of what this forest offers is such an incredible struggle to put into words.  The umbrella above is that of very long tree limbs blessed with a colorful array of springtime green.  The sunlight is a huge role player upon this canvas so bright.  The rays of light that add to what looks to be a glow on the forest floor.  And is that the message?  Too often we want all the light.  Instead of sharing it we move to locate more than what we can handle.  The same is true about the spring breeze.  The upper tops of the trees dance with nature’s music but I’m not seeing the long tall grasses near the slow moving stream dance to the same beat.  A great place for hiding.  Which is what so many of us do.  When we don’t want to be empowered by the light, the choice is to stay free of the winds of change.  We duck behind objects of comfort.  But are they and have they changed?  Once inside we can’t see why we were invited to that source of protection.  We choose to go within knowing that for a moment we are in control of the presence of now. There’s a lot of digest here.  Because we see ourselves in both places.  The tops of trees dancing with natures beat while struggling with today’s headlines in the tall grasses nestling the slow moving stream.  It almost feels like there’s no in between.  Life still exists in the middle.  For many we’re either on top or on the bottom.  Being in the center means what?  What does it represent on your path?  The middle.  Going up or falling down.  Personally in this forest that which I spend so much time writing about, I see more life in the middle than any other place.  From the owls to the squirrels, the climbing rose vine needing only so much light.  The one thing we almost never speak of while staring at the middle of the trees is the horizon. The places where dreams become a reality.  Being on top keeps you from falling witness to the growth of all living things.  Hiding in the long grasses nestling the slow moving stream blocks the view.  The glory of what this forest offers is such an incredible struggle to put into words.  Now picture yourself as a forest.

August 23, 2021

The power of thought.  So often it leaves us completely weak with no ambition to strive.  Why then do we gamble with thought?  To hear an idea and invest in a resource of energy.  Only to decrease rather than increase.  I happen to think too much.  I cherish people who aren’t afraid to be bias.  The texture is mind blowing.  Yet I’ve learned the hard way to keep my speaking voice clear of other people’s ears.  Which is why I journal.  Not just once a day.  All day.  My mother would say “You’re gonna go blind.”  I rely on the purity of thought to empower the path and not the past.  Let’s be clear.  99.9999% of what I write never makes it beyond that source of thought.  It’s not needed in this moment of now.  It’s tossed onto that page for future use.  It may take 15 years to get back to it.  It doesn’t matter.  I invest in thinking.  We have to stop being a wandering generation and put focus on the importance of being different. I can’t stand people who are like me. There’s no room for it.  How can we grow if all we say is, “Yeah.  I can relate.”  The power of thought.  Take it!  Run with it.  Fail or gain steam.  Thoughts are designed to bring things forward.  With that in mind, get your head out of your past.  Those thoughts carry no weight.  It’s a total waste of time to live in a period of your journey that brought you unrest.  Find your peace in what is now.  My thoughts on all of this?  Steal my art.  In doing so locate the guts and courage to process the expectation of having the ability to stop hiding your presence.  Be seen and let the image in the mirror know its being heard.

Unplugged and Totally Uncut August 20th

Today!!! Friday August 20th on Unplugged and Totally Uncut!!!

Ryan Jay is back with his movie reviews! The Protégé has redefined the word chemistry. He calls this a brilliant example of the right people in the right place. Ryan also loves The Night House because its unique and about secrets. But do you want to truly know? Nine Perfect Strangers with Nicole Kidman is the absolute hottest binge watch on television right now. The cast is through the room brilliant and the story outshines everything. And finally Annette seemed to be the one movie the entire planet was loving until it was released. Ryan its the worst. It's a musical with all the wrong music. See it on Amazon. 10am post

The book critics are loving Mona At Sea from Elizabeth Gonzalez James. “Mona at Sea is a portrait of a moment…I found myself immediately swept into the luscious prose, thought-provoking dialogue, and textured world of these characters who are both meaty and mysterious. It's a stunning debut from a great talent.” 1pm post

Doug Cosmo Clifford is most famous for being the beats behind Creedence Clearwater Revival. Wait until you hear his new album All The Money In The World. 4pm post

Then we're Playing It Forward with professional wrestler and now AEW commentator Paul Wight (Big Show) 7pm post

August 20, 2021

The disappearance of your personal path.  The childhood wish.  The young adult ambition.  The college education and the years spent shaking hands and kissing babies at backyard BBQ’s.  All in the name of this was your calling.  Now gone.  Every step no longer carries the weight of I am.  It’s all been replaced by a new position based on a modern mode of survival.  This isn’t me writing about me.  This is me listening to you.  As we leap back into this mask mandate with the fear of Covid hitting us stronger this time, I’m still on the front line and you’ve got a lot on your mind.  What’s your story?  All that you invested in is no longer carried by way of holding onto value.  Sporting a pair of shoes labeled I used to be.  The act or need of a gonna be still sits on the sidelines because nobody knows when the new normal will physically unwind.  We’ve been set inside a circle with new people, a new set of rules and a new layer of drama while still facing yesterday’s storms.  This is who we are but do we know where we are?  The disappearance of your personal path. I write because it gives me sight.  When was the last time you had a real conversation with yourself?  I’ve yet to see a rule book that forbids you from standing in front of a bathroom mirror sharing a conversation with the image that will soon appear in public.  Where are you?  Showing up starts with self.
