Tanay Jackson Addicted
I first hooked up with Tanay last fall. To be with the artist as creativity is happening should be an experience for everybody within the ranks of radio. You're introduced to a new level of play, marketing and the dream to take what's been scratched onto the surface of a page. Then make it your reality. Thanks to Tanay... She's cleared the way for me to be there. The idea. The music played live in other countries. Now the video.

John Oats Good Road To Follow
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee John Oates Releases Good Road To Follow
3 Disc – 15 Song Musical Journey out March 18
March 4, 2014, Nashville, TN…Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, John Oates, will release his latest solo project Good Road To Follow (PS Records / Elektra Records) on March 18, 2014. What started as a yearlong series of digital singles has culminated in a three-disc set of genre-specific EPs aptly named Route 1, Route 2, and Route 3. Unrestricted by musical barriers, Oates has collaborated with some of the world’s brightest music makers on the cross-genre musical trip, ranging from Grammy winning songwriter/producer/rocker Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, to pop band Hot Chelle Rae, to country music icon Vince Gill, to Americana legends Jerry Douglas and Jim Lauderdale.
The lead single “Stone Cold Love” was written, performed and produced with OneRepublic front man, Ryan Tedder, at his studio in Denver, CO.
“This project has been a labor of love,” Oates explains. “Almost every song was recorded with a different producer and a different co-writer, so I got to step into the worlds of so many creative and inspiring people. Some of whom I have worked with in the past and some folks that I’d never met. I reached out to the songwriters, musicians and producers that I respect and asked them if they would work with me on one individual song. Each song became an intense and focused creative experience…it was a pure collaboration from beginning to end.”
In addition to releasing a new album, Oates will be inducted with Daryl Hall into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April and will be touring throughout 2014.
JOHN OATES BIO
Iconic singer/songwriter John Oates was destined to be a musician. Singing from the time he could talk and playing the guitar since the age of 5, his calling in life was never in question. Born in New York City, his family made a move in the early 50’s that would dramatically change the course of his life. They moved to a small town outside of Philadelphia. Like most kids at that time, the impact of the early days of rock left a lasting impression on John. At the age of 4, he witnessed his first live concert when he saw Bill Haley and the Comets play their classic rockabilly hits at a local amusement park.
Young John was an avid collector of records, beginning his collection of 45-rpm singles at an early age. He had treasures from Little Richard, Chuck Berry, the Everly Brothers, Conway Twitty, Gary U.S. Bonds and, of course, Elvis. During the 60’s, he spent countless hours twisting the dial on his AM transistor radio trying to tune in the local R&B stations and listening to DJs like Jerry Blavat spinning obscure Doo Wop records and B sides.
When it came to his influences John’s musical pallet was wider than just the top 40 hits. One of his friends’ older brothers turned him on to the nascent folk music scene that began to sweep the country. John’s interest in traditional American music opened and he immersed himself in the Child’s Ballads, The Weavers, Joan Baez, Rev. Gary Davis, Dave Von Ronk and all the rediscovered bluesmen who began to make appearances at the Newport and Philadelphia folk festivals. While absorbing it all he developed a kind of musical split personality.
One night you might catch John wearing a shark skin suit playing everything from Doo Wop to the big R&B hits of the day with his band. The next night it was not unusual to find him playing his acoustic guitar in a local coffee house singing Appalachian folk ballads. To this day, the very same influences can still be heard in John’s playing and singing style.
John moved to Philadelphia in the late 60’s to attend Temple University and to be closer to the city’s music scene. In 1966 he wrote and recorded his first single “I Need Your Love” for a label owned by a local music store called the Record Museum. Bobby Martin, who at the time was producing and arranging for Gamble and Huff, arranged the song. The single received airplay on Philly’s R&B radio stations and John began to divide his time between being a student and a professional musician.
Around the same time he met an influential guitar player/teacher named Jerry Ricks, who had spent time on the road with Mississippi John Hurt and Son House. Mr. Ricks took John under his wing and introduced him to many of the newly rediscovered folk performers such as, Doc Watson, Reverend Gary Davis, Dave Van Ronk and Mississippi John for whom Philadelphia’s folk venues, like the Second Fret and Main Point, were frequent stops in their concert itineraries. John had the unique opportunity to play alongside some of these seminal musicians learning first hand, their finger picking and flat-picking styles.
When John first met Daryl Hall it was their mutual love for urban rhythm and blues blended with the more rural roots of Americana music that created their unique sound. Since the formation of their partnership in the early 70′s, Hall & Oates has gone on to record 21 albums. They have sold over 80 million units making them the most successful duo in rock history. They have scored 10 number one records; over 20 top 40 hits and have toured the world for decades. Their involvement in the original “Live Aid” concert and the groundbreaking “We Are The World” charity recording have further cemented them as legendary artists who have stood the test of time with both their music and philanthropic personalities. Hall & Oates influence on modern pop music has been cited by numerous contemporary bands, like the Gym Class Heroes, the Killers and Hot Chelle Rae, who have acknowledged the duo’s considerable contribution to American popular music.
The influential duo has been recognized by numerous American Music and MTV awards as well as multiple Grammy nominations. In 2005, they were inducted into the American Songwriters Hall of Fame and in May of 2008, they were presented with the prestigious BMI Icon Award for their outstanding career achievement in songwriting. John is also the creator and executive producer for the “7908 the Aspen Songwriters Festival” which brings together the finest songwriters from around the world to perform at the Historic Wheeler Opera House in Aspen Colorado. The festival’s mission is to celebrate the art and craft of songwriting combined with a strong educational component dedicated to mentoring and developing the next generation of songwriters.
In 1999, John began recording solo albums. Phunk Shui, 1000 Miles of Life, Mississippi Mile and a live album called The Bluesville Sessions round out his first 4 solo collections. His latest album titled, Good Road to Follow, will be released March 18th, 2014 and includes collaborations from Ryan Tedder, Vince Gill, Jerry Douglas and Jim Lauderdale.
When not touring with his solo show or with Daryl Hall, John, his wife Aimee, and their son Tanner divide their time between Nashville and their rescue ranch in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. There you will find a wonderful menagerie of dogs, emus, peacocks, llamas and alpacas. In his free time he enjoys driving his tractor, riding his mountain bike, hiking the backcountry and telemark skiing.

James B Sikking Hill Street Blues
James B. Sikking has a wonderfully exciting face that has given us drama, comedy, tragedy and hilarious farce. During his career, he has guest-starred in more than 200 prime-time television shows and five series, most recently he did a guest stint on TNT’s “Major Crimes” and “The Closer.”
He starred in four Steven Bocho television series: ‘Captain Stan Jonas’, “Brooklyn South, ” on CBS; “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” as Doogie’s dad 'David Howser, M.D.,' on ABC; 'Lt. Howard Hunter' on the critically acclaimed “Hill Street Blues” and “Turnabout,” both for NBC.
He also did a three year stint on ABC's “General Hospital” and in 1988 “Mad Avenue,” a pilot for CBS.
Two of his favorite guestings are his cameo on Bochco’s ABC series “Cop Rock” as his memorable “Hill Street Blues” character 'Lt. Howard Hunter' and several episodes of HBO’s hit series, “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
James has continually been in the viewer's eye with many diverse roles: “Nowhere to Land,” TBS Superstation, “Submerged,” and “Mutiny,” NBC Movies of the Week, “In Pursuit of Honor” and “Tyson” for HBO. He starred as 'Phil Carter,’ father of a dysfunctional family in Fox Television's “Doing Time on Maple Drive.” A personal favorite was his portrayal of a Hollywood Producer in “Tales from the Hollywood Hills: Golden Land” for PBS's “Great Performances.”
He co-starred in NBC's mini-series “Brotherhood of the Rose” and “Around the World in 80 Days.” The Operation Prime-Time tele-movie, “The Jesse Owens Story,” portraying Avery Brundage, CBS Entertainment’s, “First Steps,” and Disney’s “Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss” for PBS.
An actor he certainly is, with such chameleon characterizations as; F.B.I. Director 'Denton Voyles' in Warner Brothers' feature film, “The Pelican Brief,” the enigmatic 'Col. Halsey' in Trimark Picture's “Final Approach,” a Mafia hit man opposite Gene Hackman and Anne Archer in “Narrow Margin,” a Carolco picture released by Tri-Star, the distressed father of a murdered son in Frank Yablans' 20th Century-Fox presentation of “Star Chamber,” and 'Sgt. Kenneth R. Montone' in “Outland” with Sean Connery.
James compliments his credits with appearances as; ‘Doug Meeks’ in the hit comedy, “Fever Pitch,” a 20th Century Fox feature directed by the Farrelly Brothers. ‘Reverend Foote’ in Columbia Pictures “Made of Honor,” a CIA agent in “Scorpio,” a professional assassin in “Point Blank” and the head of the vice squad in “The New Centurions.” He also appeared in; “The Competition,” with Richard Dreyfuss; “The Electric Horseman,” with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda; a cameo role in “Star Trek III - The Search for Spock;” “Capricorn One” and “The Terminal Man.”
James is a native of Los Angeles. He attended El Segundo High School and earned a B.A. degree in Theatre Arts from UCLA. It was at UCLA that he met his wife, Florine. His higher education took nearly nine years to complete, due to military service recall. “I was originally sent to a special warfare school in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to study psychological warfare and become part of the sneaky troops. Then when Kennedy was President, I got called up again for the Berlin Wall.”
James comes from a family of three brothers and a sister. His parents, now deceased, were Unity ministers. He is the youngest and named after author James Barrie. It seems a perfect choice. There is a bit of Peter Pan in James... his sense of imagination appears whether playing roles on stage or screen.
Stage work has included: Falcon Theater’s west coast Premiere of “Exit Strategy,” the play written by Bill Semans and Roy M. Close and directed by Casey Stangle, “The Big Knife” on the London stage and he starred in the L.A. Public Theatre's Production of “Put Them All Together.” He also toured in Neil Simon's “Plaza Suite” and appeared in the West Coast Premiere of “Nobody Loves an Albatross.”
James does not limit his exploratory urges or senses of fun to his acting. When he and Florine married, “we took what little money we had and spent a year in Europe driving around.” They had an extraordinary experience they now cherish.
James and Florine live in Los Angeles. Emily, their daughter, is a doctor, and is married to Mallory “Chip” Milam. Emily and Chip have made James and Florine proud grandparents of Hugh and Maddie. Their son, Andrew, is an actor-chef. He and his wife, Paula, have two daughters, Lola James and Gemma Blue.
James is an avid sportsman and participates in various charity sporting events. He loves to cook, even though Florine is the expert with three cookbooks to her credit. They collect wine and have over 1500 bottles. “I'm not an expert, but enjoy the hobby. I have learned to buy inexpensive new wines and put them away and before you know it you have quite a nice bottle to share,” said James.
Whether it is in film, on the stage or on television, it is readily apparent that James B. Sikking’s talent, integrity and imagination will continue to intrigue and delight audiences in whatever medium he chooses to appear.

Travanti, James B. Sikking, Veronica Hamel, Bruce Weitz and Betty Thomas, among other notables. Throughout its seven year run on network television (1981-1987), HILL STREET BLUES took viewers inside the heart of a racially torn, crime-ridden precinct of an urban metropolis. Each episode charts a day in the life on "The Hill," balancing the characters' personal lives with their professional ones. "Let's be careful out there," advises Sgt. Esterhaus every morning at roll call, before sending out his officers and detectives to patrol their city's streets, where the peace is kept thanks to a tenuous trust between the police and the people they protect. Yet as dangerous as their precinct is, the men and women of Hill Street often find that their biggest battles involve protecting themselves from the Public Defender's office, self-serving bureaucrats ... and each other.

Have You Met YoYo
It started with a phone call in late autumn 2011. Yo's dad was starting to realize the dream of a studio of his own.
The conversation went on about what fun it would be to go there next summer and record some music that we could write, and fun has always been a keyword in our working relationship.
We had been writing a few songs together about ten years before this when we both worked at the same school as teachers in music and English, but life separated us geographically and we're living in different parts of the country now. However, we have always kept in contact throughout the years. Now seemed to be the right time for us to get serious.
Then we set up a timetable. We would be writing separately to begin with and send the songs to each other for comments, processing and changes until February 2012.
In February Yo would take a flight and spend a couple of days with Yo and his family in order to finish the writing process and make some music together from scratch and of course have fun!
During springtime we would polish the songs and think of production only. In June we'd do additional recordings in the new studio.
In July our families would get together and we would be mixing, playing a song or two and getting something on video. By August we should have a few songs ready that would be good enough to publish.
At the end of this phone call it was a plan. We decided to send lists of songs that we liked to each other in order to get started and roughly find some kind of direction for the kind of music we would make.

Ken Griffey Sr
KEN GRIFFEY AND BIG RED
Ken Griffey, Sr. has been a part of more baseball history than almost anyone in the game. From winning two championships with the Big Red Machine to playing Billyball with the Yanks to patrolling the very same outfield with his own son, Ken Griffey Sr. has seen and done it all in professional baseball.
Big Red: Baseball, Fatherhood, and My Life in the Big Red Machine (Triumph Books, May 2014) by Ken Griffey and Phil Pepe, reflects on an outstanding 19-year major league career beginning with Griffey’s days just out of high school and relating his decision to venture into the baseball business, documenting his time as a scout, coach, and manager along with his accomplishments as a father, raising two professional ballplayers. Highlights include:
• Recollections of winning the World Series in 1975 and ’76 and playing in "the greatest game ever played," Game 6 of the ’75 World Series
• Memories playing alongside Reds’ legends Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and Pete Rose
• His time playing in the Bronx Zoo under Billy Martin, Yogi Berra and George Steinbrenner
• The ultimate thrill of Griffey’s career and as a father: playing in the same outfield with his superstar son, Ken Griffey, Jr.
Big Red is the story of a life in baseball, but it’s much more than that. Ken Griffey’s story is one of love of baseball, love of family and love of life, and true glimpse of what it’s like when baseball really does run in the family.
ABOUT KEN GRIFFEY SR.
Ken Griffey, Sr. a former major league outfielder who played for nearly 20 years, a three-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion. He was the MVP of the 1980 All-Star Game and was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame in 2004. An unsung star of the 1975-81 Reds, Ken Griffey hit .307 in nine years in his first stint with Cincinnati and challenged for the NL batting title in 1976 and 1977. The right fielder was a heads-up, all-around player, but was most proficient at the plate. Hailing from Donora, Pennsylvania, like Stan Musial, the lefthanded Griffey's career slumped after he moved to the Yankees in a 1981 transaction. Used in a platoon role at first base and in the outfield, Griffey's entire game suffered. Injuries also slowed him, but Ken was rejuvenated upon joining the Braves. Rejoining the Reds in 1989, he and his son, Ken Jr., made history as the first father and son to play in the major leagues at the same time.

The North American leg comes on the heels of the wildly successful UK and Australian arena tours, which began in the UK in September 2012 and commenced in Australia in May 2013. The Times said "The show gets the right balance between the spectacular, the jokey and the sincere. The performances from the well-choreographed supporting cast are fine throughout. Honestly, it's enough to give rock opera a good name." The Evening Chronicle exclaimed, "the extravagance of the production, a flamboyant spectacle of acrobatics, dramatic flames and provocative pole dancing," and Liverpool Daily Post claimed, "Restored to its rock roots, the star-studded second coming of Jesus Christ Superstar is big, brash and bold…" and the Manchester Evening News stated, "from the very opening strains the pounding music, the huge and sophisticated video backdrops and pulsating energy from a talented ensemble cast make this a true spectacle."
"Jesus Christ Superstar began life as a rock album...probably because nobody believed back in 1969 that you could present a stage musical about the last days of the life of Jesus Christ. I shall never forget its first live performance in the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh on July 12th 1971. Of course JCS subsequently became a legit theatre stalwart, but I, personally, have always hankered after seeing it again in the arenas where it started," said Andrew Lloyd Webber.
"In 1971 Andrew and I were thrilled by the first-ever Jesus Christ Superstar tour of the United States," said Tim Rice. "We certainly did not imagine then that 43 years later we would be witnessing another America-wide tour of our first big hit show. We are delighted and grateful that enthusiasm for Superstar has been maintained over the years and this new production presents the work in its most powerful format - as a true rock experience."
"I'm excited to be involved with Jesus Christ Superstar," said Michael Cohl. Author Gordon Gebert KISS and Tell
Bob McAdams and Gordon G.G. Gebert have been asked that question more times than they care to remember, each having the dubious distinction of being members of the KISS inner circle. People never seem to get enough of all their outrageous stories and finally after re-telling these tales about Ace Frehley and KISS for the umpteen thousandth time - Bob and Gordon decided to tell their stories one last time in KISS and Tell!
This book exposes the hidden reality of some of Rock and Roll’s most excessive characters: * Gene Simmons * Paul Stanley * Ace Frehley * Peter Criss * Bob McAdams became Paul Frehley’s closest childhood friend around 1963 and remained friends to adulthood where each served as Best Man at each other’s weddings. Gordon G.G. Gebert became Bob’s successor as best friend and cohort with Ace in 1985 until Gordon and Ace’s controversial falling out in 1993. Together, they have put to pen the most fascinating expose’ in recent memory, full of candid details surrounding the lives of rock and roll’s most secretive band, whose superstar status was perhaps the least interesting aspect of their twisted persona. Yes, it’s about the power, fame, money, sex and madness associated with rock and roll and the lives of those who came in contact with these living legends (and everything you’d expect from the world’s greatest rock band on the planet.) But better still, there is a comic insanity in these episodes that go beyond cartoon characters or the fictional members of Spinal Tap than actual human beings. KISS and Tell is the epitome of the classic cliche truth is stranger than fiction! Here is a behind the scenes view of KISS with inside stories they wouldn’t want you to know.
ABOUT GORDON G.G. GEBERT (in his own words)
A candid conversation with the musician turned author of the most controversial tell-all rock book to come along since Hammer of the Gods, Hit Men, and I’m With The Band: Confessions of a Groupie.
“Controversy has become my middle name. Can I handle it? The real question is CAN YOU?”
Author of the hit book KISS & TELL and now a sequel, KISS & TELL MORE!, Gordon G.G. Gebert shows more balls than Bill Clinton under fire but with a sense of humor and, unlike the comparison, with a blunt honesty you have to admire.
“I’ve done more than 400 radio interviews and I truly enjoyed every single one. But I love when an interviewer connects and gets on a roll. It creates magic and great comedy. When KISS & TELL initially came out, it struck a major nerve in the die-hard KISS fan community and the hate mail poured in. You know you’ve made some kind of impact when you get a pant-load of hate mail. Mother Theresa probably received hate mail. My favorite veiled death threat was ‘If you show up at a KISS Convention you are braver than Salmon Rushdie’. I didn’t know that a KISS fan knew who Salmon Rushdie was.”
KISS & TELL’s straightforward verbage has the feel of two New Yawkers telling stories in the local bar over a few brews.
“I’m pretty jaded being a well traveled musician from New York, but when a gorgeous female reader approached me to sign my book and, as I placed my John Hancock on it, she enlightened me that she pleasured herself while reading a chapter. I admit it, both heads swelled. I asked her ‘Which chapter?’ “
Gordon’s musical resume had him on stage, getting blown up playing keyboards with Motley Crew one night - and the following evening playing with an Elvis impersonator in a local hotel.
“I love performing, entertaining, and creating music. Being creative in anything is the best job in life. If I ever start slinging burgers at the local McDonald’s do me a favor, just shoot me. One of the coolest moments in my life was when my idol, Keith Emerson, asked me to autograph his personal copy of KISS & TELL.”
As a world traveler, Gordon has gone to the far reaches of the world in Asia, Europe and even a trip to the North Pole. France is a cool place to visit. A beautiful country. Only problem is there are too many French people there. Gordon G.G. Gebert was born in the city of Yonkers, New York. The middle initials G.G. actually are names - Gerald and Giles. The second born of three talented brothers, Gordon’s original ambition was to become an astronaut.
“I grew up watching the Apollo missions. Damn, I wanted to go up with them when I was a kid. But in reality I’d probably be screaming like Bugs (censored) Bunny if I was thrown into one of those rockets.”
The sky’s the limit for Gebert. What’s next for this author/musician/entrepreneur?
“I would love to see KISS & TELL made into a movie. It’s got all the elements of Private Parts, Leaving Las Vegas, Goodfellas and Spinal Tap all rolled into one.”

Garrett Ryan Oculus
REVIEW OF OCULUS, IN THEATERS THIS FRIDAY APRIL 11TH (FROM INDIEWIRE.COM
If there's one certainty in the horror genre, it's that trends will come and go. Some strain of horror will be popular for a few years, then disappear just as quickly, waiting for its moment of reinvention or cultural relevance. The genre's recent past has been dominated by two forces: the torture-porn subgenre, in which our anxieties about war atrocities translate, somewhat clumsily, to movies where people spend whole running times getting pieces of their bodies lobbed off. The other, equally powerful force in horror movies has been the "found footage" genre, again translating our cultural queasiness when it comes to technology and turning it into something positively supernatural. But thanks to last summer's surprise blockbuster "The Conjuring," it looks like those are being shoved aside in favor of good old-fashioned haunted house spookiness. "Oculus" is a perfect example of this newly relevant style, and the results are damn scary.
As "Oculus" opens, a disturbed young man Tim Russell (Brenton Thwaites, handsome but somewhat bland) is about to be released from a mental institution. The movie plays cagey with the details, but something terrible and very violent happened in his past. Tim's sister, Kaylie (Karen Gillan from "Doctor Who"), who suffers from similarly sleepless nights, is an auctioneer with a swinging ponytail of brilliant red hair. She meets him as soon as he gets out. What's more: she's got news. It seems that she has found something very important to the siblings. It's an ornate mirror that has just been sold off. And it has a connection to their past.
Kaylie uses her connections with the auction house to "borrow" the mirror. She has it brought to their childhood house, which has been in her care since their parents died (cue ominous music). Her intention is to explain to Tim what the mirror really is and then destroy it (she's got a weighted anchor attached to the wall that is scheduled to swing down and shatter the mirror, should she not reset the timer). Kaylie begins explaining the haunted history of the mirror—how almost every owner has met some horrible fate. Tim, rattled by his sister's single-minded determination and sense of purpose, especially coming so soon after his release, combats her supernatural speculation with pop psychology. Some of these earlier scenes are the movie's best, as they have a philosophical battle of wits as the fucked up history of this cursed glass is revealed in its entirety.
The most ingenious aspect of "Oculus" is how, once the siblings enter their childhood home, the movie shifts back in time between the two grown kids in the house and their childhood selves in the weeks leading up to the tragedy that would ultimately claim both of their parents. This adds so much to the movie, it cannot be understated, and the way that the two timelines play off of each other is pretty spectacular. The adult Kaylie and Tim might be walking down the stairs, but by the time they reach the ground floor, the camera has swiveled around, revealing their child counterparts (played by the truly wonderful Garrett Ryan and Annalise Basso). In the flashbacks, we get to also see their parents, played by two wholly underrated actors: Rory Cochrane and Katee Sackhoff. (They show how suburban squabbles can soon escalate to a level of supernatural nastiness; metaphors run deep.) Occasionally these scenes of the family's domestic life don't quite work, but that's more of a matter of point of view. If all of this stuff is supposed to be coming from things that the kids have seen, then they don't always work. If it's more about an emotional impression, then everything is just fine.
As the spookiness intensifies, too, so does the more outwardly supernatural, mind fuck-y stuff. Half of the fun of the film is watching Tim come around to the fact that all of the psychobabble that has been poured down his throat since entering the institution is absolute bunk. There are some things that therapeutic discussion cannot alleviate. Things like haunted mirrors. And while the movie introduces some specifics to the mirror's lore, like the fact that the malevolent force kills all plants (and, occasionally, dogs), it remains willfully obscure about what the mirror is and what's inhabiting it, which in an era of over-mythologizing, is a welcome relief. Is it a demon? A ghost? Some kind of boogin? It doesn't really matter. You understand what it's capable of: the kind of tragedy that can reverberate through generations.
Towards the movie's third act, after some truly scary stuff has gone down (there's a scene with an apple that had us contorting in our seat), a sense of dread settles in: there's no way that this is going to have a happy ending. Gillan, who will next be seen as an evil robot alien in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," plays a young woman who is tough and committed and wound as tight as her ponytail. But part of the movie is about letting go—of the past, of notions of revenge and the satisfaction that supposedly comes along with it—and it's something that she refuses to accept. It's a wonderful performance, at once brittle and deeply compassionate, and between this and 'Guardians,' big things are likely on the way for Gillan.
Director Mike Flanagan also helped edit the film, and the movie is ridiculously tight. Even with the two timelines, two sets of actors playing the same character, fantasy elements that intermingle with what is actually happening, and a scary ghoul with glowing eyes, there isn't an ounce of fat on "Oculus." It's easily the scariest movie since "The Conjuring," and in some ways is a deeper and more satisfying film. It's stylish but not showy, more concerned with the thematic undercurrents coursing just beneath the surface. In "Oculus," the lead characters are deeply disturbed adults who are trying desperately to move on with their lives. Almost everyone is haunted by some aspect of their past. What "Oculus" suggests is that you have to move on… or you'll pay the ultimate price. [B+]

In addition, a limited number of Gold Circle tickets and Superstar Premium VIP packages are available.
The North American leg comes on the heels of the wildly successful UK and Australian arena tours, which began in the UK in September 2012 and commenced in Australia in May 2013. The Times said “The show gets the right balance between the spectacular, the jokey and the sincere. The performances from the well-choreographed supporting cast are fine throughout. Honestly, it’s enough to give rock opera a good name.” The Evening Chronicle exclaimed, “the extravagance of the production, a flamboyant spectacle of acrobatics, dramatic flames and provocative pole dancing,” and Liverpool Daily Post claimed, “Restored to its rock roots, the star-studded second coming of Jesus Christ Superstar is big, brash and bold…” and the Manchester Evening News stated, “from the very opening strains the pounding music, the huge and sophisticated video backdrops and pulsating energy from a talented ensemble cast make this a true spectacle.”
“Jesus Christ Superstar began life as a rock album...probably because nobody believed back in 1969 that you could present a stage musical about the last days of the life of Jesus Christ. I shall never forget its first live performance in the Civic Arena, Pittsburgh on July 12th 1971. Of course JCS subsequently became a legit theatre stalwart, but I, personally, have always hankered after seeing it again in the arenas where it started," said Andrew Lloyd Webber.
“In 1971 Andrew and I were thrilled by the first-ever Jesus Christ Superstar tour of the United States,” said Tim Rice. “We certainly did not imagine then that 43 years later we would be witnessing another America-wide tour of our first big hit show. We are delighted and grateful that enthusiasm for Superstar has been maintained over the years and this new production presents the work in its most powerful format - as a true rock experience.”
“I’m excited to be involved with Jesus Christ Superstar,” said Michael Cohl. “The show has evolved greatly over the past 40 years and it is exhilarating to be a part of a project that marries this incredible property and its extraordinary music with the new, innovative technology that has become available for live shows. This arena rock spectacular is a whole new experience for fans.”
"I am so thrilled to be a part of this amazing production!” said Brandon Boyd. “I grew up on Andrew Lloyd Webber's classics and never imagined I would be playing a role in one, let alone with such an incredibly diverse cast of players. Truly an honor!"
"When I heard Jesus Christ Superstar was coming to the States, I was excited at the idea to be a part of telling one of the most influential stories in history through the scope of such a talented composer, Andrew Lloyd Webber,” said JC Chasez. “I’m excited to work with such a dynamic cast, and to bring Jesus Christ Superstar back to its roots as a rock arena experience."
“I am so excited to be part of such a legendary production alongside an amazing cast!, said Michelle Williams. “I am truly looking forward to this experience!”
“I'm here to sing with the King of the Jews, who could ask for anything more?” said John Rotten Lydon.
“I feel so excited to bring this production to North America,” said Ben Forster. “America has to experience this rock arena spectacular as Andrew Lloyd Webber envisaged it. I am the real life Billy Elliot, from a coal mining city in the north of England to touring huge arenas across North America! You are about to witness my dream come true!”

Brandon Boyd Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar, the global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for over 40 years, is reimagined for the 21st century as an arena rock spectacular. The biggest ever North American arena tour of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s groundbreaking rock musical will hit the road this summer with an extraordinary cast of rock, pop and R&B superstars. The 50+ city tour kicks off in New Orleans at the Lakefront Arena on June 9, and stops in Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City and more, before culminating in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Arena on August 17.
Brandon Boyd, Grammy® nominated lead vocalist of rock band Incubus, is confirmed for the role of ‘Judas Iscariot’, Grammy® nominated *NSYNC vocalist, JC Chasez, will play ‘Pontius Pilate’, Grammy® Award winner and member of Destiny’s Child, Michelle Williams, will take the female lead as ‘Mary Magdalene’, English singer-songwriter and lead singer in Public Image Ltd. (PiL) and Sex Pistols, John Rotten Lydon, will play ‘King Herod’ and introducing British actor and singer, Ben Forster, who won England’s ITV Superstar competition in 2012 and played the lead role in the UK and Australian arena tours of Jesus Christ Superstar, will revive his role as ‘Jesus.’ With over 50 cast and musicians on stage this is one arena show that can’t be missed!
Tickets for the first 22 shows, New Orleans through Edmonton, will go on sale beginning Friday, April 11 at www.jesuschristsuperstar.com. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Friday, April 4 at 10am local time. All subsequent market on-sale dates will be announced locally in the weeks to come. Tickets prices vary by market. They range from $29.50 to $125 plus applicable fees and service charges.
The Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Spectacular North American Tour is presented by S2BN Entertainment and The Really Useful Group.

Carl Palmer
You know the harmonies. You know the guitars. The beats of a kick drum and bass guitar driven to push your every day speed past the paint on the horizon. But whatever you do. Don't ASIA a Super Group. The art. From album to CD. The groups logo and name. Has drawn more attention to its presentation than most band. Proving music lives in ways that inspire the imagination to create lyrics on something so simple. Like a canvas?

Tony Deziel
If not for the Beatles and the US British Invasion of music in the sixties, it’s entirely possible Tony Deziel wouldn’t be the talented six-string guitar slinger he is.
The impact of the Fab Four on a young Tony Deziel cannot be underestimated but they weren’t the only ones, as the Connecticut native is only too happy to confirm: ”Eric Clapton, Cream, The Who, Peter Frampton, the Beatles as solo artists, and British pop songs from the sixties and seventies were influences, too. There was some very creative song writing during that period from the ole UK. The Allman Brothers Band were also a big influence, but the Beatles were by far the biggest factor in my wanting to play the guitar.”
Just about every musician has influences but not every musician has natural talent.
Tony Deziel most certainly did – only two and a half years on from striking that first chord and picking out those first notes, Tony was teaching professionally in a local music store.
By eighteen the gifted guitarist was playing the Connecticut club circuit; his first band, The Barnes Brothers, picked up a solid regional following. The band went on to feature on local cable programs, garnered airplay on Connecticut rock radio stations and played throughout New England.
But Tony Deziel’s guitar band talents were only the half of it – he was a college major in classical guitar for three years and went on to teach privately, becoming one of only ten guitar teachers in the United States certified to offer the London College of Music Exams in guitar and music theory.
That last credential confirms and underlines the fact that Tony Deziel is none too shabby on his instrument of choice.
But performing and playing are where Tony’s musical heart lies and it was his second band, Sundance, which brought deserved and wider recognition.
Sundance released the album Pearls of Wisdom in 1996; it garnered a number of notable reviews with many acknowledging Tony’s guitar playing and song writing skills. Guitar Player, Guitar World, Relix and Songwriter’s Monthly were amongst the magazines applying the plaudits; a number of radio and television appearances followed for Sundance.
The band also featured in the documentary Behind the Scenes with Sundance, which aired on many cable networks throughout the state and around the country.
Songs from Pearls of Wisdom also featured on prominent Connecticut rock radio stations and the longevity and quality of the album is proven by its recent reissue and availability through cdbaby.com, iTunes and Amazon.com.
As the sun set on Sundance, Tony Deziel the solo artist and the Tony Deziel Band blossomed in the Millennium years.
Guitarist and band became noted for delivering rhythm and blues pop punch with songs such as ‘What’cha Put in That Kiss’ and the finger pickin’ instrumental ‘Jilly Bean,’ while also breathing new life into covers of classic material by British Invasion artists such as Cream, The Who, and the Beatles.
A number of Tony’s studio recordings, both self-penned and covers, have been released as singles but the guitarist has also been successful on the other side of the studio glass – in 2004, using his own band, Tony recorded and produced folk artist Bob Johnson’s debut release Fast Train To Nowhere and the album picked up many positive reviews.
In 2005 Garageband.com listed Tony as one of their top twelve favourite artists; Tony was featured on 178 Clear Channel Rock Radio stations across the United States.
In 2006 Gargeband.com honoured him again by placing him on over 600 Clear Channel Radio Stations.
But the best was yet to come.
In 2012 Tony was considering releasing ‘What’cha Put in That Kiss’ as a CD single, accompanied but a cover or two (by now something of a Tony Deziel trait). But Tony and fellow musicians Paul Opalach (bass, keyboards) and drummers Steve Peck and Scott Donofrio had so much fun with the covers they ended up recording eight classic pop and blues numbers along with four Tony Deziel originals. Those songs became Tony’s debut solo album Some Things Never Change, released in 2013.
Led by the fun, bluesy shuffle of the reworked Sundance song ‘What’cha Put in That Kiss,’ Some Things Never Change is a fine debut, with highlights including the acoustic ballad ‘If I Could Hold You’ and the sleepy little rag ‘Calistoga.’
As regards to having all his musical influences ‘covered,’ Tony and band produced a punchy take of The Who’s ‘Substitute,’ put a little R&B shake on Lennon & McCartney’s ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’ (Number One on Paris France Radio for eleven weeks in 2005) and delivered a lovely rendition of George Harrison’s ‘Something’ (one of Tony’s favourite ever songs).
Tony Deziel’s simple but strikingly effective solo on ‘Something’ is a perfect tribute to a late and legendary artist, but its ‘Tattoo’d Lady,’ a cover of a song from another late and legendary artist that typifies and showcases Tony Deziel’s six-string verve and energy.
And it’s an artist that Tony has not just an admiration for but a true musical affinity:
“When I was in the 9th grade I would dig up anything I could on blues artists; I discovered the London Muddy Waters Sessions album and noticed there was a guitar player called Rory Gallagher on the record.
Once I heard him I ran out and got his Tattoo album and that, as they say, was that!
People still don’t realize how good this guy was. Not just as a guitar player but as a vocalist and songwriter. And he could, and did, write in many different styles.”
Also, not uncoincidentally, musical strengths of Tony Deziel.
While Tony’s guitar work is all about the notes and the tone as opposed to the speed of a solo or a riff, he’s not averse to firing off some feisty fretwork, such as on the Rory Gallagher gem ‘Bought & Sold.’
And many of Tony Deziel’s covers now come with official seals of approval…
When the Tony Deziel Band did a hot rockin’ version of the Rory Gallagher/ Taste classic ‘Blister On the Moon,’ the legendary Irish guitarist’s brother Donal was moved to say: “Superb, what a terrific version. If Rory were around and did a re-record I reckon this is what it would sound like.”
Then a very different kind of song got the official nod from its songwriter.
When Tony and band decided to do the first-ever cover of Jimmy Nail’s ‘Ain’t No Doubt’ (the British singer and actor’s 1992 funkified pop hit), Nail’s co-writer Charlie Dore asked Tony to add some spice:
“Charlie told me to ‘cook it up’ so I put some vim and vigour into the chorus vocals and took out the sax solo in favour of a cranked up guitar solo. I sent her a version of it and she gave me two thumbs up!”
A few covers, including ‘Bought & Sold’ and ‘Ain’t No Doubt’ will appear on Deziel, due for release in the summer of 2014.
But the fourteen track album will feature primarily self-penned material including the instrumental ‘Jilly Bean,’ the heavy and bluesy ‘Why Is Love Killing Me’ and melodic blues ballad ‘Shades of Blue.’
The latter was recently used in an episode of the popular CBS crime drama Person of Interest.
The featured rhythm section on Deziel are Tony Deziel Band stalwarts Paul Opalach on bass (who also produced and engineered the album and played with Tony in Sundance) and Tony’s long-time friend Steve Peck on drums; another ex Sundancer, drummer Scott Donofrio, also appears on the album.
Tony’s love of performance, both electric and acoustic, along with his recording career, means his Student Roster and guitar teaching classes are a thing of the past (he gave up teaching guitar in 2013).
But those budding guitarists’ loss is the pop and hard rockin’ rhythm ‘n’ blues world’s gain.

Sarah Davidson Private Lives Of Nashville Wives
I love it when singer/songwriters take the time to stop in to I Heart people's radios. There's always a story behind the story normally standing in front of the assumed answer. I was totally caught off guard when Sarah Davidson stepped deep into the roots of Country Music. Back in the day when listeners called their favorite songs Country or Western.

Robert Cray In My Soul
5x GRAMMY WINNER & LEGENDARY GUITARIST ROBERT CRAY
REVISITS CLASSIC SOUL TO COMPOSE A NEW TIMELESS SOUND.
Cray reunites with producer, and friend Steve Jordan for 2014 worldwide release "IN MY SOUL" 31 March (EU)/1 April (US)
(New York, NY, January 27, 2014) Legendary guitar musician and singer-songwriter Robert Cray releases In My Soul on March 31, 2014 on the Provogue label. This will be the seventeenth studio album for the 5x Grammy winner, 15x Grammy nominee and multi-platinum selling artist.
Produced by American multi-instrumentalist, composer, musical director, Grammy Award-winning artist and longtime Cray friend Steve Jordan (John Mayer, Keith Richards), In My Soul captures Cray at his finest with an outstanding 10 song collection of Stax and Chess influenced soul and blues that showcases his trademark guitar playing and his extraordinary vocals. A bonus track “Pillow” will also be included on the limited edition CD.
From the driving original classic Cray “You Move Me” with its scorching guitar leads, to the melodic 60’s sway of “Fine Yesterday” featuring Cray’s trademark soul drenched vocals, In My Soul draws listeners in very quickly.
Recorded at Santa Barbara Sound and engineered by Niko Bolas, In My Soul features the Otis Redding cover “Nobody’s Fault But My Own” that finds Cray trading vocals with drummer Les Falconer and features a punchy horn ensemble and catchy guitar verse. The moving Cray penned “What Would You Say” pierced with his unique guitars licks, has Cray dreaming about a better world and in traditional Cray fashion asking listeners, “What would you say if we quit waging war, children felt safe to sleep. One of these days we may all learn to talk over a table with something to eat. What would you say? Can we do that, What would you say?”
Longtime bandmate Richard Cousins co-wrote the Booker T homage, an instrumental entitled “Hip Tight Onions” as well as the poignant 70’s tinged “Hold On” that talks about relationship perseverance during difficult times. Cries of lost love are told in both “Pillow”, the haunting bonus track co-written by Cray and Jerry Friedman as well as “I Guess I’ll Never Know” the funky hard driven tune co-written by Falconer. The album also features a version of “Deep In My Soul” a staple in the set list of the great soul and blues singer Bobby Blue Bland as well as a version of the Isaac Hayes / David Porter cover “Your Good Thing (Is About to End)” first recorded by Motown’s Mable John in 1966 and then became a hit single for Lou Rawls in 1969.
New Yorker Magazine (Sept 2013) calls Cray “One of the most reliable pleasures of soul and blues for over three decades now… “and Rolling Stone Magazine (4/2012) credited Cray’s Strong Persuader album to having reinvented the blues with his “distinct razor sharp guitar playing” that “introduced a new generation of mainstream rock fans to the language and form of the blues.”
Robert Cray has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan, from Bonnie Raitt to John Lee Hooker. Inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame at the age of 57, he is one of the youngest living legends to receive the prestigious honor. With over 12 million records sold and his own line of Fender guitars, Cray has established himself as a genre defining artist- breaking through the pop ceiling with his gate crashing/blues-edged trademark sound and distinct style that has become a signature blend of r&b, pop, rock, soul and traditional blues. The New York Times says, “his voice, alternately smooth and craggy, is often richer and more emotive than Mr. Clapton’s, and he knows the best ways to use it,” while Guitar Player Magazine noted, “Robert Cray is not only making great music he's making history…”
And while he can look back over an astonishing four-decade career (this year marks the 40th Anniversary of the formation of the Robert Cray Band!) Robert Cray is too busy moving forward on an amazing journey and embarking on yet another world tour with the Robert Cray Band. The band includes Cray (vocals/guitar), Richard Cousins (bass), Dover Weinberg (piano/keyboard) and Les Falconer (drums).
In My Soul offers an array of powerful material that displays Cray’s amazing and unique guitar sound, his passionate and soulful vocals alongside awarding winning songwriting and musicianship. A cutting collection of tunes that will please longtime fans yet offers a purity of new life for first time listeners.
