Eddie has always been one of my favorite conversationalists.  He doesn't mind me digging around in his heart for the strings of his guitar.  Every lyric.  Each riff.  I don't want to listen to my interpretation of the sounds.  I need his inspiration and influence as to what and why it suddenly creates pictures inside the imagination of music fans all over the south.  Eddie's not afraid to let me ask questions.  He knows I'm coming after the source and his answers will forever be priceless to all people connected to creativity.

Terri Nunn From Berlin

<a class="spreaker-player" href="https://www.spreaker.com/episode/15318812" data-resource="episode_id=15318812" data-width="100%" data-height="350px" data-theme="dark" data-playlist="show" data-playlist-continuous="false" data-autoplay="false" data-live-autoplay="false" data-chapters-image="true" data-hide-logo="true" data-hide-likes="false" data-hide-comments="false" data-hide-sharing="false" >Listen to "Terri Nunn From Berlin" on Spreaker.</a><script async src="https://widget.spreaker.com/widgets.js"></script>

"New music is the lifeblood of anybody making music- it's that creation, excitement, new babies [songs]! It inspires me and it inspires others," declares Terri Nunn, the charismatic and enigmatic singer of L.A.'s iconic synth electro-pop pioneers, BERLIN.
BERLIN will forever be recognized as the American progenitor of electro-pop artistry with sensually appealing lyrics. Few bands emerging from the era of BERLIN have achieved as far-reaching and long-lasting an impact and, rarely, such a timeless array of musical grooves. The Los Angeles-based band made its first national impression with the provocative single "Sex (I'm A...)" from the platinum-selling debut EP Pleasure Victim in 1982. "The Metro" and "No More Words" were also chart toppers, but it was the unforgettable, intimate, and strikingly beautiful love song, "Take My Breath Away" that took the band to another level. The ballad's defining role in the Tom Cruise film, Top Gun, helped solidify BERLIN's everlasting place in American pop-culture. The song was a #1 international hit and received both the Golden Globe and Academy Award for "Best Original Song" in 1986.
The band released its seventh studio album, Animal, in 2013. Animal explored contemporary electronic dance music while remaining true to the groundbreaking sound and Nunn's signature vocals that continue to define BERLIN. Animal was the result of Nunn's re-ignited love affair with current electronic music, and the feeling that BERLIN could make a unique statement in the EDM [electronic dance music] milieu. "It's still my favorite medium. I've loved it since I met John [Crawford, original Berlin bassist) in 1979, when he wanted to bring electronic music to America, because it wasn't here yet," she recalls. "What it's morphing into is exciting me so much, I was motivated to look for songwriting partners to help us initial impression on the music world in 1982, with their seductive single, "Sex (I'm A.)," from the platinum- certified debut EP Pleasure Victim. BERLIN's first full length LP, Love Life, hit in 1984 and was certified gold. In 1986, BERLIN topped the charts with the unforgettable, intimate and strikingly beautiful love song, "Take My Breath Away." The ballad's defining role in the Tom Cruise film Top Gun has also helped solidify BERLIN's everlasting place in American pop-culture. Nunn's ongoing influence earned her the #11 spot on VH1.com's "100 Greatest Women in Rock," while, as an actress, she played leading roles in films including Katie: Portrait of a Centerfold with Kim Basinger, and Thank God It's Friday with Jeff Goldblum and Debra Winger.
Currently, Nunn is recording a brand new BERLIN studio album with her original BERLIN band members and co-writers, John Crawford (bass) and David Diamond (keyboards). The album is scheduled for release in early 2019. The album is being produced by Australian producers Andy and Thom Mak. The album marks the first collaboration by Nunn, Crawford and Diamond since "Love Life," the third BERLIN album, released in 1984.
Video was very important to early hits like "Sex (I'm A...)" and "The Metro"- has also taken on new meaning for BERLIN. "YouTube is the new MTV," Nunn notes. "We used to spend so much money on mini movies, but now all you need is a good HD camera and a guy who knows some lighting. Online is where people go to see and hear music-it's free and it's easy and so wonderful." Nunn's honesty and infectious enthusiasm carries through every aspect of "Animal," which she views as an entirely new chapter. "I always looked at music as passion. All we can do is appreciate that people's passion is so strong for music... I feel it too, it's part of my DNA, and I love what I grew up with. What I learn as I get older," she concludes, "is that it's not about money or 'making it.' Sure, they're fun games, but it's about connection, that's where the real joy, passion and bliss comes from, and music is such a huge part of connecting people. It's the way. to bliss."
BERLIN's discography has yielded twelve gold and platinum album awards. The band-founded by Nunn, bassist John Crawford, and keyboard player David Diamond-made its everlasting place in American pop-culture. Nunn's ongoing influence earned her the #11 spot on VH1.com's "100 Greatest Women in Rock." long with comedienne, Wendy Liebman, Nunn also previously hosted the critically acclaimed radio show Unbound with Terri Nunn on 88.5 FM KCSN Los Angeles.

Despite her many creative outlets, music, BERLIN and touring remain Nunn's first love. Nunn, a rabid music fan, was inspired by Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon" and her discovery of the LA club scene, starting with the band, X. Looking back, she recalls her own early musical dreams. "I remember going to a Rolling Stones concert at the Rose Bowl, and I couldn't believe they did 2 ½ hours of songs and I knew every single one! That's a legacy, a body of work that has mattered to people. That's what I aspired to," she says. "Of course, no way am I close to that body of work, but I have a number of songs that people love that much, and they come to hear Berlin over and over. I'm so grateful for that."

Dan Hampton

<a class="spreaker-player" href="https://www.spreaker.com/episode/15311605" data-resource="episode_id=15311605" data-width="100%" data-height="350px" data-theme="dark" data-playlist="show" data-playlist-continuous="true" data-autoplay="false" data-live-autoplay="false" data-chapters-image="true" data-hide-logo="true" data-hide-likes="false" data-hide-comments="false" data-hide-sharing="false" >Listen to "Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Dan Hampton Releases Chasing The Demon" on Spreaker.</a><script async src="https://widget.spreaker.com/widgets.js"></script>

After Hiroshima, the ability to deliver a nuclear device to target faster than one's enemy became the singular obsession of American war planners. Speed. In 1947, it represented the difference between victory and annihilation. And so, in the earliest days of the Cold War, a highly classified program was conducted on a desolate air base in California's Mojave Desert. Its aim: to push the envelope of flight to new frontiers. There gathered an extraordinary band of pilots-including Second World War aces Chuck Yeager and George Welch-who risked their lives flying experimental aircraft to reach Mach 1, the so-called sound barrier, which pilots nicknamed "the demon." Shrouding the program in secrecy, the US military only reluctantly revealed the "barrier" had been broken two months after the fact because the story was leaked to the press. To this day, the full truth has never been revealed-until now. CHASING THE DEMON: A Secret History of the Quest for the Sound Barrier, and the Band of American Aces Who Conquered It (on-sale July 24, 2018), from decorated fighter pilot and acclaimed aviation historian Dan Hampton, tells, for the first time, the extraordinary true story of the mankind's quest for Mach 1. Illuminating and insightful, key revelations and highlights from the book include:
- Was aviation legend Chuck Yeager REALLY the first man to break the sound barrier? Captain Chuck Yeager made history flying the futuristic Bell X-1 faster than the speed of sound on October 14, 1947. But based on interviews with Yeager's former commander and a trove of declassified documents, Hampton presents new evidence that fellow American George Welch (like Yeager, a WWII ace) very possibly beat Yeager to Mach 1 by two weeks.
- The top-secret story of the Mach 1 program and nuclear war. In 1947, two years after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima launched the nuclear age, the quest for speed was of paramount strategic importance to American war planners as they entered the earliest days of the Cold War-i.e. whoever could get over target first with "nukes" held the "high ground." The X-1 program was classified as top secret, and even today, little is known of it-until now.
- Meeting the band of extraordinary aces who pushed the limits over the skies of the Mojave. This was also a human story featuring an unforgettable, but-with the exception of Yeager-all but unknown cast of characters. The Air Force gathered their best of the best to Muroc Air Base in the Mojave Desert to push the limits of human achievement. Here was George Welch for example, one of two American pilots who got airborne at Pearl Harbor and who later shot down a total of 16 enemy aircraft during the Pacific War. Hampton brings these characters, along with the stories of several more legendary aces, to life.
- Revelations that draw on exclusive new eyewitness interviews and newly declassified files. Hampton has interviewed Ken Chilstrom, World War II combat fighter pilot and Yeager's superior officer, for the book. Chilstrom is 97 years old and has never publicly spoken in depth about the program until now. Hampton also obtained copies of all George Welch's original test reports, noting several unusual discrepancies.
Written by "one of the most decorated pilots in Air Force history" (New York Post), and the New York Times bestselling author of Viper Pilot, Lords of the Sky, The Hunter Killers, and The Flight, Hampton brings unique personal experience to this narrative. Able to penetrate the secretive and reticent world of the fighter pilot, Hampton has uncovered a story never fully explained until now with CHASING THE DEMON.
"Chasing the Demon flows very smoothly and tells a great story about the pioneers of highspeed flight, primarily from the pilots' perspective. Whether you are a pilot, engineer, or an aviation-history enthusiast, reading Dan Hampton's book is time well spent."- JOHN D. ANDERSON JR., Curator of Aerodynamics at the National Air & Space Museum
Illustrated with thirty-five photographs, CHASING THE DEMON recalls this period of the emerging Cold War and the brave adventurers pursuing the final frontier in aviation. William Morrow is excited to publish this thrilling narrative this summer.

Wicked Tuna’s seventh season finds the captains in need of redemption. Captain Dave Marciano of the Hard Merchandise (@CaptMarciano) is out to turn things around after a disappointing season in Gloucester last year, in which he caught only five fish and landed near the bottom of the leaderboard. Deen And Doug From Dead Daisies

<a class="spreaker-player" href="https://www.spreaker.com/episode/15296675" data-resource="episode_id=15296675" data-width="100%" data-height="350px" data-theme="dark" data-playlist="show" data-playlist-continuous="true" data-autoplay="false" data-live-autoplay="false" data-chapters-image="true" data-hide-logo="true" data-hide-likes="false" data-hide-comments="false" data-hide-sharing="false" >Listen to "Deen and Doug From The Dead Daisies" on Spreaker.</a><script async src="https://widget.spreaker.com/widgets.js"></script>

“BURN IT DOWN” is a muscular tour-de-force, a tornado of pounding drums, pulverizing bass, screaming guitars and in-your-face raw vocals. Evoking the best of 70s Rock, with moments of Birmingham’s finest, blended with the early works of Boston’s best, “Burn It Down” will do just that: Burn down everything in it’s path until there is nothing left standing.
Recorded in Nashville with Marti Frederiksen at the helm, the band finished their 4th studio album “Burn It Down” in December, with Anthony Focx once again handling the mix and mastering legend Howie Weinberg adding his magic.
John Corabi about the new record: “I’m extremely excited about our new record “BURN IT DOWN”! It was a pleasure to once again work with Marti Frederiksen and the band on what I believe is the next great step in The Dead Daisies journey. This is a balls-out old school rock record!!! Enjoy it, and see you all on our massive 2018 world tour!!!! Peace, Crabby”
Doug Aldrich puts it quite simply, yet to the point: “The new Daisies album will melt your face! It is raw and in-your-face with a whole new sound!”
With the band eager to get on the road and in true Daisies’ fashion, the band announced the first of many BURN IT DOWN TOUR dates slated for 2018 right before Christmas with fans turning out in droves at the on-sale date. Many more dates are to be announced including the band’s highly anticipated return to Japan and South America!
With Deen joining the bands line-up to record the new Album, The Dead Daisies are: Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy), Deen Castronovo (Bad English, Journey) and David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink).
One thing is for certain: within a short amount of time, The Dead Daisies have made a massive impression on the rock scene and managed to garner the one thing that every band desires but only so few ever have: HARD CORE FANS! They love the Daisies and the Daisies love them back!
Rock is indeed alive and well!!!

We all experience so much in our lives, from the big moments of getting your first job, to lighter but still important memories like attending our first baseball game.  And although we may know some of the life events important to our loved ones, many of us don’t know about the experiences that truly make them who they are.  How can we learn more about the people that matter to us most?

To help families learn more about their loved ones, The Funeral and Memorial Information Council (FAMIC) has teamed up with Popular Syndicated Columnist Jim MIller to discuss how to Have The Talk of a Lifetime.  Finding a way to start talking with a loved about significant moments can be the most difficult part, so FAMIC has created Have The Talk of a Lifetime Conversation Cards, which offer questions/ideas for helping to get these conversations started.   These cards include questions such as, “What is the best lesson you ever learned”, and, “what is the scariest thing that ever happened to you?”  By using these conversation questions as jumping off points, you may be surprised by what you learn about people you have spent your entire life with.

Encouraged to try different things, Austin created his own company, Bikelyf, at age 17. The brand mainly focuses on cycling culture and selling bicycle lifestyle products. While running his own business, Austin still had a deep admiration for jazz music. Music only recently came back into Austin's life after being put on hold for his company and job. He now performs at private parties, company events and restaurants around Rochester.

Class is back in session this summer as TV Land’s hit comedy series Teachers  returns for a third session. After a much needed long recess, the leaders of the playground are back and ready to conquer a new school year and this season our fearless heroines are fighting the spread of the vicious and highly contagious lice epidemic. The Teachers are put to the test when the dreaded curse of creepy crawlers enters the classroom, and the question remains – who will make it out alive?

Teachers stars The Katydids, the improv group consisting of Caitlin Barlow (Ms. Cannon), Katy Colloton (Ms. Snap), Cate Freedman (Ms. Feldman), Kate Lambert (Ms. Watson), Katie O’Brien (Ms. Bennigan) and Kathryn Renée Thomas (Mrs. Adler). The Katydids write, star and executive produce the series.

Last season, Variety hailed the cast, stating, “in terms of acing the midterm, the Katydids have indeed done it,” while Bustle said “the female-driven sitcom is hilarious, insightful, and totally cute.”

The big idea: Most people don’t question their fear-based or self-negating thoughts, but tend to readily accept them. Regardless of whether the destructive thoughts have any basis in reality, people can let them invade their minds and hijack their confidence and well-being.

The so what: Learning how to ask “Says who?” confronts the negative and fear-based thoughts holding people hostage so that the thoughts no longer exert their influence. Coming to realize that the thought isn’t real or valid, and that it’s ultimately useless to them, allows people to successfully align their inner dialogue with their goals and dreams.

Mia has been playing piano, singing and songwriting for most of her life. After making the semi-finals on a talent competition show ("America's Got Talent") at 15, Mia was bullied online for her weight. This left her self-esteem shattered and drive to pursue music dwindling. After years of hiding and unhealthy practices, Mia decided to no longer allow others to influence her. Mia adopted healthy eating habits, exercise and embraced her music again. In Boston, Mia plays open mics and weddings all over the city. Legendary vocal group The Manhattan Transfer releaseD their first new studio album in 10 years titled THE JUNCTION on March 30 via BMG. In conjunction with the release, the group was seen nationwide with their new PBS special titled "The Summit," a dual show with Take 6 that started April 26; and announced a U.S. tour. The album promptly hit #1 on iTunes' Jazz Chart. THE JUNCTION - the group's new album which draws inspiration from The Transfer's classic 1975 version of Glenn Miller's "Tuxedo Junction" - features the group's newest member, bass vocalist Trist Curless, who joined the group when late band founder Tim Hauser fell ill in 2013; officially joining after Hauser's passing in late 2014. Curless (formerly of m-pact), joins Janis Siegel (alto), Alan Paul (tenor) and Cheryl Bentyne (soprano), as they release a collection of songs that includes five selections that the members wrote or co-write themselves. THE JUNCTION was produced by five-time Grammy winner -- vocalist, film composer, arranger and producer Mervyn Warren.
"As our work on The Junction, and the theme of the album reflects - democracy is the fabric of the group, and has been from the beginning," says Bentyne. "It's a whole different ball game, but one we feel is still musically very viable and exciting," adds Siegel. Paul says, "The concept of The Junction is that this is a special meeting place, a junction of merging our four and a half decade musical legacy with something new. We weren't looking to replace Tim's unique personality, but found in Trist someone who could add a new element to the group, and take care of the bottom of the quartet with his true bass." Curless reflects, "My personal desire was that the album would sound like The Manhattan Transfer, keeping what they've done, but bringing a new energy that would come naturally with my strengths as an artist, becoming a part of theirs."

It’s a few months after the 2016 presidential election, and former VP Joe Biden is lost. For a man who spent his entire career serving his country, life post–White House has lost its luster. While Joe putters around his home in Wilmington, Delaware, his former political partner-in-crime is soaking up the good life, hanging out with the likes of Richard Branson and Bradley Cooper. Joe knows he’s not cut out for kitesurfing and base jumping, but he misses his old friend. Then, just as Joe is about to throw himself a pity party, a familiar face appears in a haze of cigarette smoke. Barack has come with some solemn news: Joe’s favorite Amtrak conductor, Finn Donnelly, has died in a suspicious accident.
The news strikes Joe hard. Donnelly was the conductor he saw every day while riding the train between Wilmington and Capitol Hill. He was a family man, and came from a long line of railroad workers. But what’s even more puzzling is the news Obama delivers next: on Donnelly’s desk, the police found a piece of a map leading straight to Biden’s house. Was Donnelly trying to reach out? And how did such a careful guy get struck by an Acela? Joe knows there’s more to the story than meets the eye. He promises Donnelly’s daughter he’ll find out what really happened, and a Biden always keeps a promise. But Joe is a private citizen now—what can he do?
That’s when the Obama/Biden mission begins.
Filled with a familiar desire to serve and Barack by his side, Joe is determined to uncover the truth. Along the way, he and POTUS 44 find themselves traversing the darkest corners of Delaware, searching for evidence in run-down motels, confronting a dangerous biker gang, hanging off
an Amtrak train, and uncovering a conspiracy that’s advancing America’s opioid epidemic.
No-nonsense Joe is not taking anyone’s malarkey. And he won’t stop until justice is served.

DEADLY FORCE: A Police Shooting and My Family's Search for the Truth by Lawrence O'Donnell (including a new preface and afterword). Originally published in 1983, this crucial story from the host of MSNBC's The Last Word chronicles the 1975 police shooting of an unarmed black man in Boston-one of the first to draw national headlines-and the dramatic investigation and court case that followed. Tragically, the events O'Donnell recounts in this book remain far too common today, with police killings of unarmed black men-from Michael Brown, to Eric Garner, to Laquan McDonald, to the hundreds of other similar cases that happen every year in the U.S.
On a rainy winter night, James Bowden, Jr. left his mother's house in Roxbury after a visit. As he guided his Buick out of his parking spot, an unmarked police car suddenly blocked his path. Two undercover officers sprang out, running toward his car. Shots were fired, and Bowden slumped over the wheel. Moments later, he was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. The police argued that they had fired in self-defense, claiming that Bowden was an armed robbery suspect and that after they had ordered him to stop, he had fired a shot at one of them. And multiple internal investigations by the Boston Police Department exonerated the officers involved.
But Patricia Bowden, James's widow, knew better. "The truth will come out," she said at her husband's funeral. She sought a lawyer willing to take on the Boston Police Department and finally found one in Lawrence F. O'Donnell, the author's father, a man whose past, unbeknownst to Patricia Bowden, made him the only lawyer in town who could not refuse her case. O'Donnell embarked on a highly contentious three-year battle with the Boston Police Department to win justice for James Bowden.
DEADLY FORCE is a powerful indictment of police misconduct, a reminder of this issue's long, tortured history, and an illustration of how far we still have to go.

Smithsonian Channel’s Hell Below
Gives Viewers a Deep Dive into Submarine Warfare

Speak with Award-Winning Author and Military Journalist
James M. Scott about Our Nation’s Most Dramatic
Submarine Victories and Tragedies

Submarine attacks are among the most feared forms of maritime warfare. During World War II, the U.S. Navy and the other Allied powers faced off against German U-boats and Japanese forces set on unrestricted submarine warfare. Smithsonian Channel’s popular series Hell Below, which begins its second season on July 1, details both the successes and tragedies of these underwater conflicts in World War II and during the Cold War. The series also profiles the strategic and military masterminds behind these submarine campaigns and the rapidly evolving technology used in stalking and battle. Each hour-long episode features expert analysis and stock footage along with dramatic re-enactments filmed aboard authentic World War II era submarines, placing viewers in the heart of battle.

One of the experts featured in Hell Below is James M. Scott. An award-winning writer and former reporter and investigative journalist, James has reported from Afghanistan, Iraq and tsunami-devastated Indonesia. His acclaimed book The War Below – based on more than 100 interviews with submarine veterans – tells the story of the submarine force that helped win World War II by ravaging Japan’s merchant fleet and destroying the nation’s economy. His previous book The Attack on the Liberty won the prestigious Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morrison Award for Excellence in Naval Literature. His most recent release Target Tokyo was a 2016 Pulitzer Prize finalist.

James can share some of the exciting submarine warfare stories featured on Hell Below, discuss the role of submarine campaigns in military strategy, and the amazing advances in submarine technology since WWII,

Michael Jackson continues to fascinate the world. Shana Mangatal was one of Jackson’s constant and true rocks of stability for nearly two decades. Their relationship was quiet and sweet and real—a closely guarded secret known only to a few trusted employees and friends. Shana is now coming forward to tell their love story. Sometimes strange, sometimes surprising, always fascinating, this is the story that Jackson fans have been waiting for.

During her seven years working for Michael’s personal manager during the prolific period of the 1990s, Shana witnessed the scandals and the lawsuits, the release of groundbreaking albums and the subsequent world tours, the making of big-budget short films, and the addictions. It was through this business relationship that their trust and love for each other grew. Shana kept a meticulous diary throughout it all. Her story is rich with every little detail.

Michael and Me entertains and inspires, but above all, Shana continues to treat Michael (and his legacy) with respect. This is not an exploitative tell-all but rather a book that shows the side of Michael people never knew. In it, Shana paints a more intimate picture of this beloved yet very misunderstood man.

In this conversation Shana opens her heart about her experiences with one of the most creative men in music.  The very man that brought his sons forward into a world waiting to be inspired by the sounds and vibrations of music that would become our soundtrack and more.  Mr. Joe Jackson.

Evel Live is an unprecedented three-hour live event happening Sunday, July 8, at 8PM ET (5PM PT) and is part of HISTORY'S second annual car week. American professional motorsports star Travis Pastrana will honor legendary daredevil Evel Knievel by attempting three of his most dangerous feats in Las Vegas, Nevada, all while riding a modern day recreation inspired by the motorcycle Knievel used. These stunts include: breaking Knievel’s record jump over the length of 52 cars, another record-breaking jump over 16 full size buses, and aiming to make history as the first person to successfully jump the Caesars Palace fountain on a bike similar to the one Knievel used 50 years ago – an attempt that ended with a crash that left Knievel grasping for life. If Pastrana rides away from all three, he will be the only person to successfully beat two of Knievel’s distance records and land a jump over the fountain on a v-twin motorcycle. All of this will happen in the span of just three hours, and HISTORY will capture every exhilarating, nerve-wracking moment live.
Alongside the three epic jumps will be live interviews with Knievel and Pastrana family members, archival footage of the history behind Knievel’s many daring jumps, and expert analysis. Evel Knievel was the world’s first iconic daredevil and created a legacy that inspired generations and left audiences in awe of his audacious feats. Pastrana has stepped into Knievel’s shoes as America’s modern-day daredevil. Inspired by his predecessor, Pastrana was the first person ever to land a double backflip on a motorcycle.

The name is the sound. Churning, burning. Slowly rolling like a sludgy, incendiary river. Bending and twisting. Calm but raging.  Soothing and fierce.

It is next level heavy rock – crushing riffs, soaring vocals, steam train like grooves, dynamic and distinctive songs.

On the first day, there was Black Sabbath. On the second, Soundgarden.   Now, there is Burn River Burn.

Burn River Burn's latest release, Neüstonia, will be available everywhere Friday, June 8, 2018, via Pavement Entertainment.

Band:
Chuck Howell - Guitar
John Paterson - Vocals
