Kelsea gets her love of music from her Puerto Rican grandfather. He was in a band, sang mariachi and even wrote a book of songs. Her grandfather was diagnosed with liver cancer and sadly passed away before seeing Kelsea on "The Voice" stage. Through this hardship, Kelsea stayed focused on school, graduated with excellent grades and was awarded a scholarship to Stony Brook University in New York. Kelsea graduated in three years with a degree in psychology and sociology and is now ready to fully embrace her music.
