Richie Faulkner says that fans can expect to hear "a few surprises" in JUDAS PRIEST's setlist when he and his bandmates return to the United States this spring for a run with fellow classic heavy rockers URIAH HEEP. The 32-date trek will kick off on May 3 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida and wrap on June 29 at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"We were there with [DEEP] PURPLE in the fall of last year, at the end of summer last year, so it will be great to come back and do our headline shows," Faulkner told Atlanta's rock station Rock 100.5 in a brand new interview (hear audio below). "And we're bringing URIAH HEEP with us. And we're looking forward to it. We're working up new songs for the setlist for this go-around. There'll be a few surprises in there — some songs that maybe people haven't heard for a long time, or ever from the band. So it's exciting just to see people's faces when you throw a new song in there or a blast from the past. So we're looking forward to coming back through. It's a slightly different stage production. We've got some new ideas for that as well. So it's gonna be an exciting tour. We can't wait to get back out there."

Couples often connect and fall in love by talking. But what conversations should a new couple have to know if their love will last a lifetime – through challenges, surprises, joy, and pain? And if a couple been in a relationship for years, what conversations should they have to reinvigorate the connection and passion that first brought them together, but may have become routine?
From the leading research scientists on marriage and family, authors of the million-copy bestseller The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Workand founders of the world-renowned Love Lab, comes EIGHT DATES: Essential Conversations for a Lifetime of Love by Drs. John Gottman & Julie Schwartz Gottman, coauthored by Doug Abrams & Rachel Carlton Abrams, MD (Workman Publishing; February 5, 2019; $24.95).Offering empowering ways to discover the love each partner wants and deserves, this extensively tested program of eight fun, conversation-based dates will result in a lifetime of understanding and commitment, whether a couple is newly in love or has been together for decades. Because a happy relationship isn’t the result of having lots of things in common--as we often think--it comes from a couple knowing how to address their core differences in a way that supports each partner’s needs and dreams.
For forty years, the Gottmans have studied what separates the masters of relationship from the disasters. It comes down to eight important topics that can make or break a relationship. These topics are explored in the following dates:
Date #1: Lean On Me: Trust & Commitment
Date #2: Agree to Disagree: Addressing Conflict Early reveal: Some conflict is unresolvable—as it should be
Date #3: Let’s Get It On: Sex & Intimacy The chapter we all turn to first – it’s only as hot as your vulnerability
Date #4: The Cost of Love: Work & Money It’s not about the money, it’s about what the money means
Date #5: Room to Grow: Family
Date #6: Play With Me: Fun & Adventure A frustration of long-term couples is reframed and reinvented
Date #7: Something to Believe In: Growth & Spirituality
Date #8: A Lifetime of Love: Dreams They begin when you’re a child, and they can grow when you share a life – if you have the conversation!

The stunning conclusion to the Vega Jane series
Called a “master craftsman” by the Associated Press and “one of the greatest thriller writers of the last decade” by Strand Magazine, Baldacci, whose adult thrillers have more than 110 million copies in print worldwide, ventured into new fictional turf with the #1 New York Times bestseller THE FINISHER and bestselling sequels THE KEEPER and THE WIDTH OF THE WORLD. Praised as “wildly fanciful and darkly intriguing” by Publishers Weekly, the Vega Jane series boasts three New York Times bestselling installments and tackles prescient issues like xenophobia and human rights. Vega Jane is “a smart, tough heroine worth rooting for” (Booklist), and is an excellent example for teens—and readers of all ages and genders—to emulate.
ABOUT THE VEGA JANE SERIES
The Vega Jane series follows its eponymous character—a teenage girl from a small village where no one comes and no one goes. Life in Wormwood is nasty, brutish, and short, but what lies beyond its boundaries is much worse… or so they’ve all been told. After generations of isolation, Vega’s mentor disappears, leaving behind a secret, cryptic message about a way out of Wormwood, and the extraordinary world on the other side. As Vega investigates, she begins to uncover the dangerous lies and powerful people controlling the lives of Wormwood. In THE STARS BELOW, she comes face to face with her enemy with the odds stacked high against her. But when evil comes, heroes stand to meet it. When injustice appears, the only choice is to stand and fight.

Author John Kim is known as "The Angry Therapist." In his new book: book I USED TO BE A MISERABLE F***: An Everyman’s Guide to a Meaningful Life (HarperOne) - John explores the questions of what it is to be a man in today's society. He creates an important dialogue and covers essential topics, from vulnerability and posturing to workouts and women.
Kim's goal is to encourage men to “think about who you are now and who you want to be…I’m not here to lecture you. I’m coming with you, not at you. Talking to you like one of my friends—the men I sweat with, eat with, ride motorcycles with, get crepes and share...feelings with. Yes, real men eat crepes.”
As Kim explains:
boys typically find their models for manhood in their fathers.
we are living in a fatherless nation: too many boys are left without adequate role models or coping skills to deal with life’s various issues.
the result is that out of the 45,000 people who commit suicide each year, 79% of them are men. And men aren’t the only victims; women and children suffer all too often at the hands of men. The cycle continues onto the next generations as one out of five teenage girls reports that she has been in an abusive relationship.
This doesn’t mean that all hope is lost. Kim draws on his own very personal experiences, not just as a therapist, but as a man, to help men unlock that trapped potential. As he explains, Kim went through a devastating divorce, and it was during some deep soul searching afterwards that he came to an astonishing realization: he was miserable and likely to blame for the problems in his life.
Armed with this new insight, Kim began The Angry Therapist blog - an admission that, while he was a licensed therapist and life coach, he was no better than the people who sought his advice.

RBG, a well-received documentary from CNN Films, Storyville Films, and Magnolia Pictures and directed by Julie Cohen and Betsy West, rolled out on May 4, 2018, to over 60 markets across the country and has been nominated for an Oscar. The film, which
premiered in January 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews from
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter and currently scores 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, prominently features Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik, authors of the
New York Times bestselling book, Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as well as the book itself.
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg never asked for fame - she has only tried to make the world a little better and a little freer. But nearly a half-century into her career, something funny happened to the octogenarian: she won the internet. Across
America, people who weren't even born when Ginsburg first made her name as a feminist pioneer are tattooing themselves with her face, setting her famously searing dissents to music, and making viral videos in tribute. But
Notorious RBG, inspired by the Tumblr that amused the Justice herself, is more than just a love letter. It combines reported narrative, annotated dissents, rare archival photos and documents, and illustrations to tell the story of an unusual and transformative
woman who transcends generational divides.
Nearly 300,000 copies in print across all formats, Notorious RBG was created by award-winning journalist Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik, the lawyer who began the Internet sensation. Carmon extensively interviewed Ginsburg for MSNBC in the course of
working on the book, which also draws on intimate interviews with Ginsburg's family members, close friends, colleagues, and clerks.
Notorious RBG also draws on some of the finest legal minds- including several former Ginsburg clerks-to vividly explain Ginsburg's revolutionary work fighting gender discrimination. It is an emotionally stirring, visually rich, and intellectually engaging
look at the Justice and how she has changed the world. From Ginsburg's refusal to let the slammed doors of sexism stop her to her innovative legal work, from her before-its-time feminist marriage to her perch on the nation's highest court - with the fierce
dissents to match - get to know RBG as never before.
Last November, HarperCollins Children's Books published a Young Reader's Edition of Notorious RBG, aimed at bringing Justice Ginsburg's story to the next generation.
Executive Editor Julia Cheiffetz says, "When we commissioned the book in 2015 we hoped it might strike a chord. To see the Justice's legacy celebrated in this way is nothing short of awesome." Since the book's publication, the nickname "Notorious RBG" has
become iconic, appearing as both Jeopardy and NYT crossword puzzle clues, and affectionately used by President Barack Obama. Just last month on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," Colbert himself said, "They call her the Notorious RBG. She
is a feminist icon and a favorite among the young people.please just hang in there for 3-7 more years." As Donald Trump's presidency makes Ginsburg's continued presence on the Supreme Court uniquely urgent and consequential, "Notorious RBG" is more relevant
than ever. Ginsburg herself is a testament to how far we can come with a little chutzpah.

The legendary lady of song, Dionne Warwick, is starting this year off with a trifecta of honors, interviews and a new record - her latest in five years.
First up, Dionne is one of several legends who've been chosen to receive one of the Grammy Awards' highest honors - the Lifetime Achievement Award. She joins music greats such as George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Billy Eckstine, Donny Hathaway, Julio
Iglesias as well as Sam & Dave in this bestowed class. The honorees were mentioned in the Grammy Awards live telecast this past Sunday, February 10th on CBS. A separate award presentation ceremony and concert celebrating the honorees will be held on May 11,
2019, in Los Angeles.
Next, CBS News chatted with Dionne for their esteemed weekend series, Sunday Morning. The long running program, now in its 40th year, has interviewed several music legends - many of whom are Dionne's contemporaries and colleagues (Johnny Mathis, Ronald
Isley, Carlos Santana, Herb Alpert, Cher, John Mellencamp - to name a few). Dionne discussed her stellar career - from the East Orange, New Jersey roots and upbringing within the Drinkard family dynasty to ascension in music and entertainment. The
Sunday Morning interview aired sometime before CBS' Grammy Award telecast on February 10th.
Finally, a new album from Dionne, "She's Back" - produced by her son, Damon Elliott, will be available in the spring of 2019. Her 36th full-length studio recording, the album will contain ten tracks with new songs as well as remakes of pop/soul gems. The
recording also will be Dionne's first R&B/soul album in fifty years, since the release of her stellar 1969 Scepter LP, "Soulful", which she co-produced in Memphis with the late Chips Moman (who'd manned the boards for Dionne's then-label mate, B.J. Thomas).
In addition, "She's Back" will also include duets with Kenny Latimore ("What Color Is Love") as well as Musiq Soulchild. The album will be released in partnership with Entertainment One (EoNE) Distribution and available for CD and download purchase as well
as all streaming platforms.

“As the great existential philosopher Cher once postulated, ‘do you believe in life after love?’ In my own personal experience, after my breakup, the answer was a resounding NO,” bestselling writer and illustrator Amalia Andrade writes in her beautiful, hand-lettered book YOU ALWAYS CHANGE THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE (For Another Love of Another Life). Born out of a devastating breakup with her long-term girlfriend, the illustrated and interactive book combines a painful experience we can all relate to with advice we desperately need. Her book -- already a sensation in Latin America -- is a seamless blend of witty quips, pop culture references and heart-felt prose, and offers heartbreak advice you won’t find in a stodgy self-help guid. Hilarious and refreshingly honest, it highlights the stages of grief and the lessons that Andrade learned from them.

Brian Ray's arrangement of The Tears of a Clown has been a staple of his live shows for years. He says he's been fascinated with the song, its lyrics and its impact on me as a kid. I was a big fan of Smokey’s ever since I first heard him singing through the earpiece of my new transistor radio as a kid, singing’ Shop Around.
Openly he admits that he feels privileged beyond words that Smokey offered to sing nearly 1/2 of the song with him on the new version of The Tears of a Clown. This recording is his way of celebrating Smokey and to thank him for making his song, One Heartbeat, a hit just as he was getting off drugs and alcohol at age 31.

Loretta Swit, a true champion of the animal kingdom, is an animal activist, artist, and award-winning actress, known for her iconic starring role on TV's most honored series, M*A*S*H, for which she won two EMMYs and worldwide acclaim.
Few actresses can capture the imagination of generations of television viewers with the certainty and charm of Loretta Swit. As quick-witted, impassioned Major Margaret Houlihan of M*A*S*H, Ms. Swit became an American icon. And with its popularity now in worldwide syndication, new fans continue to enjoy her lavish portrayal of the sensuous, sensitive, comedic Major Houlihan.
Ms. Swit has been honored with such recognition as two Emmy Awards, the People's Choice Award, The Genie Award, The Silver Satellite Award, The Jean Golden Halo Award, and the Pacific Broadcasters Award. With ten Emmy nominations and four nominations for the Golden Globe, she most recently has received her third Career Achievement Award. Loretta has a star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame.
She has been teamed with some of the most memorable names in the world of television, film, and theater. Her television career boasts over 25 movies, including the original Cagney and Lacey, in which she created the role of Chris Cagney (obligations to M*A*S*H prevented her from shooting the series). Her films include Stand Up and Be Counted with Jacqueline Bisset, Freebie and the Bean with James Caan and Alan Arkin, Race With the Devil with Peter Fonda, Beer opposite Rip Torn, S.O.B. with Julie Andrews and William Holden, Whoops Apocalypse with Peter Cook and Herbert Lom, Forrest Warrior with Chuck Norris, and BoardHeads with Bronson Pinchot.
Ms. Swit's wildlife series, Those Incredible Animals, was shown twice weekly on the Discovery Channel for an amazing five-year run, as well as being aired in over 30 countries. Throughout her career, Ms. Swit has graced the stage in numerous plays including The Vagina Monologues in New York, Chicago, and the West End in London. She is currently performing in regional theaters or on tour in plays including 'Eleanor-Her Secret Journey', 'Me and Jezebel', and 'Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks'.
She has devoted decades to animal-related causes and is a prominent advocate for animals and animal rights. What many fans may not know about the multi-talented thespian is that Ms. Swit has been an artist from age six. A new book by Mies Hora SwitHeart: The Watercolour Artistry & Animal Activism of Loretta Swit, documents Loretta's lifelong compassion through her soulful animal portraits as well as anecdotes about them and her extensive philanthropic work.
SwitHeart includes 65 full-color paintings and drawings, and 22 photographs. Proceeds from the book will be donated to charities and programs that are as dedicated, as Ms. Swit is, to ending animal suffering and cruelty.
"I'm thrilled to see my passion for animals and my passion for art merge in a book that will help benefit and protect the animals on our planet." - Loretta Swit
Loretta has worked relentlessly and tirelessly through donations, live appearances, endorsements, interviews, and documentary footage to support a wide variety of the best and most effective animal support groups and programs including The Humane Society, Bide-a-Wee, The Farm Sanctuary, and the International Fund for Animal Welfare, among many others.

Adam Higginbotham

In 2006-the twentieth anniversary of the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl-Adam Higginbotham, then a reporter on assignment, traveled to Russia and Ukraine, searching for surviving witnesses to the accident. He discovered that the version of events widely accepted in the West was incomplete, often incorrect, and colored by misinformation and propaganda. The real story, he found, was more complex, human, and terrifying than the myth.
Based on research conducted over the course of more than ten years, Higginbotham's MIDNIGHT IN CHERNOBYL: The Untold Story of the World's Greatest Nuclear Disaster (February 12, 2019/$29.95 hardcover) provides the first complete account of the catastrophe that encircled the world and helped precipitate the fall of the Soviet Union. Higginbotham draws upon recently declassified documents, letters, unpublished memoirs and material from the archives of the Chernobyl Museum in Kiev, as well as scores of original interviews with participants in the events of 1986. These include former Soviet ministers, state investigators, KGB officers, pilots, and soldiers, as well as the scientists, nuclear engineers, plant workers, and ordinary citizens whose lives were changed forever. Many of these have never before spoken to a Western journalist. The result is the definitive account that breaks through the propaganda, secrecy, and myth to reveal the truth about one of the twentieth century's greatest disasters.
Higginbotham's exhaustive reporting allows the reader to experience the incident through the eyes of those who lived it, from the ambitious young station director who first envisioned the power station in a snow-covered field in rural Ukraine, to the control room engineers who unwittingly prompted its destruction; from the city officials and government ministers who oversaw the mass evacuation and cleanup, to the ordinary citizens who struggled through it all to keep their families safe. It is a story of heroics and incompetence, hubris and ingenuity, institutional weakness and human resilience.
Higginbotham also positions Chernobyl as a key event in the destruction of the Soviet Union, and the U.S. victory in the Cold War. For Moscow, it was a political and financial catastrophe as much as an environmental and scientific one. With an estimated final cost of 18 billion rubles-at the time equivalent to $18 billion-Chernobyl further strained the teetering Soviet economy and revealed to its population a state built upon a pillar of lies.
MIDNIGHT IN CHERNOBYL also carries echoes for our own time. With tensions rising among the world's nuclear powers, and a vigorous ongoing debate about the role of nuclear power in the world's energy future, Higginbotham's account serves as a parable for how we should think about our ability and our will to control the world through potentially dangerous technologies.

Carmine Appice’s Guitar Zeus showcases the complete and prolific talents of many world-renown rock guitarists including Brian May, Slash, Neil Schon, Yngwie Malmsteen, Bruce Kulick, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Paul Gilbert, Mick Mars, Richie Sambora, Zakk Wylde, Bob Daisley, Dweezil Zappa, Vivian Campbell, Leslie West, Warren DeMartini, Steve Morse, Ty Tabor (Kings X), Ted Nugent, Dug Pinnick, John Norum and others…
“The Guitar Zeus project, for me, was an amazing experience that has never been done before by a drummer, especially with so much talent on one album! You get your money’s worth! Writing all the songs with my band (Tony & Kelly) and then picking out songs for each guitarist was a fun and time-consuming process, especially coordinating everybody’s schedules and recording sessions.
From the opening note, one can tell this is going to be something special. I consider these drum tracks to be some of the best performances in my career, topped off with working with so many great guitarists and singers. The combination of players and song selection is something special with some of the tunes is out of the ordinary and ahead of their time!”
– Carmine Appice
“As soon as I heard the track, I thought it had a very haunting quality, evoking the ‘60s, but with a very modern slant. I also found the backing track very powerful and appealing, driven by Carmine’s very recognizable style; so I was keen to play on the track straight away”

Andrew Zimmern has eaten a smorgasbord of local specialties-from coral worms in Samoa to horse-rib-and-rectum sausage in Kazakhstan-over his 12 seasons as host of Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel. Entertaining? Always! Stomach-churning? Sometimes. But above all, the 4-time James Beard Award-winning television personality, chef, entrepreneur, teacher, author...and dad...is on a mission to promote cultural acceptance, tolerance and understanding through food. In AZ AND THE LOST CITY OF OPHIR: Alliance of World Explorers, Volume One (Beaver's Pond Press; February 5, 2019; 978-1-64343-986-0; $15.95 Hardcover), written by Andrew Zimmern and H. E. McElhatton, with full-color illustrations by Lisa Troutman, Zimmern draws young readers into a whirlwind adventure, packed with intrigue, danger, magic, and culinary curiosities. In his first work of fiction, Zimmern introduces a 12-year-old hero who shares his taste for intrepid eating. Proud of his "iron stomach," young AZ will eat anything-sautéed grasshoppers, squashed worms, even cafeteria meatloaf lurking in the school dumpster-no matter how strange, stinky, slimy, gritty, grimy, or gross. When the novel opens, AZ is excited to spend the summer with his archeologist parents on a dig in the Siberian tundra. Sadly, his dreams are dashed by a bad report card. Instead of exploring, he'll be stuck in summer school and grounded at the home of his odd Uncle Arthur. Resigned to two months of math drills and bland food, AZ is thrilled when Uncle Arthur reveals his covert mission with the Alliance of World Explorers (AWE) and whisks him along. At the introductory reception, AZ meets two kids his age, Edward (an egghead) and Lux(a staunch vegetarian). After a time-traveling mishap, AZ and his new friends wind up in Ophir, the Lost City of Secrets, fabled for its endless supply of gold. Filled with wonder, this ancient Egyptian city also has a dark side. Relying on his friends and his gut, AZ sets out to unravel Ophir's mysteries-and find a way back home. But first, he must brave cursed tombs, blood-thirsty crocodiles, one repulsive villain, and a feast-fried tarantulas, chocolate-coated caterpillars, and more-to challenge even his stomach.

Double Dragon Records reveals the artwork and release date for Memoirs of an Uprising, the self-produced new album from singer/songwriter/guitarist, Damon Johnson. The album is set for release on March 8, 2019 with pre-orders beginning January 25, 2019. Fans who pre-order Memoirs of an Uprising will receive the album’s debut single, “Shivering Shivering,” as an instant grat track. Orders for a limited edition Red Vinyl pressing of the album can be placed here.
After incredible runs with the bands he co-founded, Black Star Riders and 90’s chart toppers, Brother Cane, Damon Johnson found himself in spring of 2018 in a surprising position. Johnson had just completed a coast to coast tour with BSR supporting Judas Priest, as well as select reunion performances with Thin Lizzy, when he realized there were two things he couldn’t stop thinking about; his family and his music. Would 2019 finally be the year Johnson gives full focus to the music he kept hearing in his mind, composing an album, a true collection of songs that represented his personal vision, plus have the final say about his tour calendar? The answer was a resounding, YES!
Johnson explains, "After that Priest tour I was feeling anxious about some things: getting older, where my career would be in 10 years, how much time I was continually spending (mostly in foreign countries) away from my wife and our two youngest kids...plus I was sitting on a near completed solo album of the most honest music I’ve ever made. Ignoring some hard truths could not be a part of my deal anymore.” So Johnson made the decision to part ways with Black Star Riders, finish his album, and start over…this time completely on his own name.
The resulting album, Memoirs Of An Uprising is a collection that is both fierce and diverse - a powerful springboard for the musician to start his next chapter. Collaborating with his longtime friend and songwriter, Jim “Johnny Blade” Troglen, Johnson began assembling a group of songs in divergent tempos and grooves that appealed to his musical side and then laced them with lyrical themes of betrayal and revenge. “The first two songs we put together were “Shivering Shivering” and “Dallas Coulda Been A Beatdown” and I knew we were off to a great start,” says Johnson. Throughout Memoirs Of An Uprising there are musical events that are strictly meant to get bodies moving, like “Dallas…” and “Making Peace With This Wicked Beast.” There are some truly challenged literary actors in “We Got A System” and “The World Keeps Spinning Round.” When it is suggested that this could be a concept album, Johnson says, “As much as I’d prefer to steer clear of that label, there is no denying these 10 songs can be consumed in one listen and feel like a complete story.”

Now, they alone have emerged into the dawn of a new era on Earth, into a Fire Lake valley that's full of otherworldly dangers and challenges. Rodney Perry loves the spotlight at center stage and will never abandon his life as a stand-up comedian delivering his brazen reality based comedy. With 20 years of marriage and six children (5 girls and 1 boy) Perry is an expert on all things family and rips the seams of crowds that attend his shows to hear all about his fatherhood fodder. Perry finds delight in giving back and sharing what he's learned over the years with his weekly classes that he hosts in Atlanta where he calls home. Preparing the next generation of comedians is what he feels is a small contribution in his legacy that will keep laughs going for generations to come.
Perry delivers the funny any way viewers or listeners want to receive it, whether it's his highly popular weekly radio show Rodney Perry Live, or his sold out live shows, Perry truly is the hardest working man in comedy and he doesn't see himself slowing down any time soon.
Comedy is his forte, however, this funny man isn't afraid to explore his serious side in roles as is evident his appearances in the film "Mr. Right" where he gets to flex his acting chops alongside actor Columbus Short as well as the upcoming drama "Broad Street Bullies" where he plays a notorious gangster. Adding producer to his long list of credentials he's also producing shows like the independent release "A Song for Jordan."
The early years of comedy found Perry his first gig as a writer/warm up guy for Kim Whitley on her talk show "Oh Drama." Being on the scene, he was able to parlay his skills into opportunity and began opening for the likes of George Lopez, Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer, to name a few. He would spend the next 10 years nonstop on television in various capacities. Hosting comedy shows like "Who's Got Jokes" helped him fine tune his craft and fueled the fire for the screen, big and small. Catching the attention of comedy lovers and industry shot callers alike, Perry got another big break with a starring role as "Harold" in Tyler Perry's "Madea's Big Happy Family" and it's only been a meteoric ride on the fast track ever since. Perry has since found a home at Bounce TV where as the host of his own comedy show "Off the Chain" he would spend the next several years giving Bounce TV its leverage in the cable market with his ever increasing ratings. "Off The Chain" would go on to become a sold out tour and in addition he would also break records for the young network with his number 1 rated comedy special "Rodney Perry: 44 and Still Ticking".

Brace for impact: 2019’s first thriller is a high-octane, character-driven spellbinder, a gripping tale about a private plane crash, a young woman’s tenacious fight for survival and a mother’s unstoppable quest to discover her daughter’s fate.
The publication of FREEFALL (Harper, $27.99; Hardcover; ISBN 13: 9780062874832; on-sale: January 8, 2019) by Jessica Barry introduces a major new talent. Barry’s mesmerizing voice has captivated early readers and movie rights have been snapped up by Brad Weston at Makeready, the team behind the upcoming release, A Million Little Pieces, and an adaptation is in the works.
A masterful storyteller, Barry crafts an irresistible page-turner that doubles as a thoughtful meditation on grief, deception, betrayal, the transactional nature of female beauty, and the lengths we will go to for those we love.
When her fiancé’s luxury aircraft goes down in the Colorado Rockies, only Allison Carpenter emerges from the wreckage. The danger is far from over, though. Allison cannot afford to reflect on the events that have led to this moment or to wait for rescue. Not if she intends to stay alive. Injured, afraid, and in possession of dangerous secrets, she must navigate the harsh terrain to evade the murderous adversaries who want her dead.
At her Maine home, widowed Maggie Carpenter receives devastating news about the loss of her daughter, Allison, whom everyone presumes dead. Haunted by guilt over their two-year estrangement, Maggie gets another shock when she sees media reports on the tragedy. Ally appears unrecognizable, having transformed from a pretty girl next door into a sleek blonde bombshell. What else doesn’t she know about this enigmatic stranger? Galvanized by regret, she vows to unravel the mystery.
Crosscutting between Allison’s inescapable memories and Maggie’s tireless investigation, the alternating narratives cohere into a revealing portrait of desperation, reinvention, and ambition. Before the ill-fated flight, Allison had been one half of a La Jolla golden couple, cocooned in the glittering orbit of her future husband. Blissfully happy with Ben Gardner, a drug industry hotshot peddling a revolutionary panacea for postpartum depression, she slid into the role of decorative partner and never looked back.
But what really lurked beneath the picture-perfect façade? As a shadowy tangle of moral ambiguities, dirty dealings, and fatal consequences comes to light, the fallout ignites an explosive reckoning that will imperil the resilient Carpenter women and put their bond to the ultimate test.
Twisty, emotionally resonant, and relentlessly suspenseful, this unforgettable debut expertly fuses domestic noir and psychological intrigue into a stunningly original creation. As ingenious as it is
entertaining, FREEFALL takes readers on an exhilarating, wildly unpredictable ride that will have them gasping and guessing until the very end.

Set in Miami, Cartel Crew takes a deep look into the lives of eight descendants of the Cartel life as they navigate adulthood and the effects the legacy has had on their upbringing. Now disconnected from their past, they want to make a name for themselves outside of the drug world, but find that escaping the shadows of their ancestors will come with a price. Money, friendships and love are on the line in this reception store about life after narcos.
Michael Blanco grew up surrounded by crime. The youngest son of Griselda Blanco (the “Cocaine Godmother”), he followed his mother’s footsteps into the drug world. For 33 years he led a criminal lifestyle, but after his mother’s assassination, he decided to quit the Cartel life and launch a personal clothing brand, “Pure Blanco,” to prove he could lead a legal business and life.
Daughter to a former career cocaine trafficker, Stephanie’s childhood was torn apart when her father was arrested and sent to federal prison. Now she is determined to move on from the past and make a name for herself as a singer through dignity and hard work.
Mindfully Present In Your Wrong

Thomas Edison knew he had a great idea. One day he'd invite light into every dark room. To achieve that place of acceptance required mistakes. Openly he admits that it was one thousand things gone wrong. I honestly don't believe today's business world is interested in such attempts. Decision makers and space takers in the business oval office want instant gratification mainly because they're out to serve themselves before all others. On this podcast I talk about building the strength to accept failure. A tough place to walk in a world pretending to be perfect. There's positive energy found in flubs and stumbles but hardly anybody admits to being a screw up. How many times did it take McDonalds to build the Big Mac? Obviously they're still trying to create the better sandwich because over the weekend I saw they've now added bacon to it. Being a daily writer I'm reminded of how many times I eff things up. On this particular show I utilize the trust put into stream thinking. No judgement or perfection jot down what ever is moving through you in the moment. Then come back a different day to study the moment. Being truthful of your path isn't an itemized list of victories but rather a stroll through awareness and recovery. While at the homeless shelter I shared a conversation with a true man of God about how I've invested in being true to Yoga Nidra, "Mindfully I live in the present." His exact words were, "What is mindful? What does that mean?" Knowing your moment of "Now" is a tough journey to walk. Documenting the disconnected circle isn't a place to be proud of and yet the energy poured into self forgiveness allows the ability of your skills to have life beyond what others have labeled a weakness or failure. Practice stream thinking. Write down whatever hits you in the moment. Then walk away. Don't go back and read it. Walk away. Being available in your moment of "Now" teaches your creative self to have a voice without endlessly being ridiculed. The true eff up here isn't you, it's those that don't believe in you.
