A blank page isn’t a writing voice. Ultimately the ink must stain whatever
message is glued to the universe. To pry it free might offer an innocent
crumbling. To sit and wait for the thought
to dance softly with the page could take too much of what little time is
left. Because it’s October, the sun isn’t
too quick to rise across the eastern horizon. It plays games with millions who
are affected by a lack of light. Research
shows it causes a shortage of serotonin.
Which can cause a feeling of depression.
The way I deal with it is with artificial lighting. My entire space is completely lit up. In my writing place there are three lamps on
me. In the recording studio there’s
lighting from every angle. Only to
realize two of the greatest features on this everyday creative walk are the
windows overlooking the beautiful forest.
It’s very dark outside the windows.
Oh boy. It would seem so simple
to put shades and or curtains up. That’s
like walking up to a comedian and saying, “Tell me a joke.” Creative minds don’t
enjoy the feeling of being trapped. A
blank page isn’t a writing voice.
Ultimately the ink must stain whatever message is glued to the universe. There’s a huge chance you go through these
same mindsets this time every year.
Surrounding yourself with light is a huge lift. You can’t lay in bed until the sun elects to
get up! Learning to hear the inner core
of your creative process will help you find peace of mind. I’m not going to light up the forest at 5am. I did take note of something while watching
television news. Lighting from beneath
the talent on the tube. Giving off the sense of there being light. It’s a work in progress. Getting Fall under control.
