David Mandel

David Mandel recently took over as showrunner for the fifth season of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning sitcom, VEEP, which also received sixteen 2016 Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series (also last year's winner), Outstanding Actress (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Outstanding Supporting Actor (Tony Hale, Matt Walsh), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Anna Chlumsky), Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Direction. Prior to VEEP, as a writer and executive producer, Mandel’s TV credits include three years of writing and producing an “Saturday Night Live” (1992-1995) and three years of writing and producing “Seinfeld”, which earned him two Emmy Award nominations, as well as a WGA Award nomination for “The Bizarro Jerry,” and a WGA Award win for “The Pool Guy.” Along with Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and Larry David, Mandel has written the last four seasons of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and served as executive producer for the last three. Mandel has also directed five episodes of the series. His work on “Curb” has earned him numerous Emmy, PGA and WGA Award nominations. Mandel’s film credits include writing and producing “The Dictator” with Berg and Schaffer, and writing and co-directing the cult comedy “EuroTrip,” also with Berg and Schaffer.
