Caseen Gaines Back To The Future

Hey its 2015. Isn't this the year of Marty McFly? Shouldn't we be preparing to go Back To The Future? From the iHeart Radio Studio I'm Unplugged and Totally Uncut with an author that knows every detail as to how, why, where and when every itty bitty piece of puzzle took place. Caseen Gaines Back to the Future was the brain child of the “two Bobs” – director Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, who worked tirelessly to break into the film industry with a hit. During their journey, they encountered unprecedented challenges and routinely took the difficult way out. For the first time, the story of how these two young filmmakers struck lightning is told by those involved. In WE DON’T NEED ROADS: The Making of the Back to The Future Trilogy, Caseen Gaines includes original interviews with both Zemeckis and Gale, as well as stars Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Huey Lewis, and more than fifty others from the cast and crew of this legendary film. Caseen Gaines reveals little known facts: •Johnny Depp, John Cusack, George Newbern, and Charlie Sheen were among the up and coming stars who read for the role of Marty McFly. •Universal’s Sid Sheinberg is rumored to have disliked the title Back to the Future and wanted to call it “Spaceman from Pluto” •Minor script changes would turn out to be iconic—Marty’s mom’s name was changed from Eileen to that of Sheinberg’s wife, Lorraine; Professor Brown was instead nicknamed “Doc”, and his pet, originally a Chimp named “Shemp” was replaced with a dog. •At the rough-edit screening starring the first Marty, Eric Stoltz, Zemeckis admitted “there’s a hole in the middle of our screen. The lead actor doesn’t work.” •Jeopardizing one of the film’s best gags, Chuck Berry initially wavered on letting “Johnny B. Goode” be used in the film, but eventually allowed the song to be used for a $50,000 fee. •Due to a 1979 vehicle safety law, the DeLorean’s speedometer topped out at 85. In order to hit the magical 88 miles per hour, the manufacturer’s speedometer was replaced and a digital display was added for effect. WE DON’T NEED ROADS is the ultimate read for anyone who has ever wanted to ride a hoverboard, hang from the top of a clock tower, travel through the space-time continuum, or find out what really happened to Eric Stoltz after the first six weeks of filming. About the Author Caseen Gaines is the author of Inside Pee-wee’s Playhouse: The Untold, Unauthorized, and Unpredictable Story of a Pop Phenomenon, which received a 2012 Independent Publisher Book Award Silver Medal, as well as A Christmas Story: Behind the Scenes of a Holiday Classic.
