SHOWTIME will debut JAY PHAROAH: CAN I BE ME? from standup comedian and master impressionist Jay Pharoah on Saturday, August 1st at 10 p.m. ET/PT. JAY PHAROAH: CAN I BE ME? is the first hour-long comedy special from renowned stand-up comedian and veteran Saturday Night Live cast member, Jay Pharoah. No topic is off limits as Pharoah delivers an unfiltered powerhouse performance live from The Cutting Room in New York City. Weaving in his most popular celebrity impressions, Pharoah offers his comedic insight on relationships, family, music and pop culture leaving his audience roaring with laughter. From Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video Entertainment and Comedy Dynamics, Pharoah serves as executive producer. Comedy Dynamics will also release an album of the special on August 7, 2015. “Jay Pharoah is a rising star and Lorne Michaels has set the gold standard for comedy for decades,” said Kent Sevener and Gary Garfinkel, Co-Heads of Content Acquisition for Showtime Networks. “We are excited to bring this hilarious stand-up special to our SHOWTIME subscribers.” Pharoah recently completed his fifth season on Saturday Night Live. He is best known for his wide array of uncanny celebrity impressions, including President Barack Obama, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Chris Rock, Stephen A. Smith, Kanye West and Chris Tucker. Pharoah developed his comedy skills at a young age, training in local comedy clubs. He went on to tour in the U.K., U.S. and Montreal. Pharoah released a series of music videos through Above Average including a Kanye West parody, "I Am a Dog," which became an instant viral video with over a million views within the first week of release. His feature film credits include Ride Along with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, Get a Job with Bryan Cranston and Anna Kendrick, Top Five and Balls Out. SHOWTIME is currently available to subscribers via cable, DBS or telco providers. Starting in early July consumers will also have the option to subscribe to SHOWTIME through its stand-alone streaming service on Roku® and Apple® devices, or through Sony PlayStation® Vue. Consumers will have access to the live broadcast of the network’s east and west coast feeds, as well as unlimited on demand access to every season of award-winning SHOWTIME original series, and hundreds of hours of movies, documentary, sports programming and specials like JAY PHAROAH: CAN I BE ME?
