No one knows better what it's like for a woman to break into a traditionally male sport than Andra Douglas.
Douglas, the quarterback and owner of the New York Sharks professional woman's football team, fought for the opportunity to play football from her earliest days growing up in Central Florida. Her new book, BLACK & BLUE, is loosely based on her own story. Douglas can talk about how she overcame countless personal and financial sacrifices to achieve her dream of playing football. She can address:
. What it was like growing up in a traditional Southern town as a girl who shunned "girlish" pursuits in favor of football and hunting
. How she came to New York - and found the women who became her teammates on the New York Sharks
. The beginnings of women's professional tackle football, and the challenges the athletes of this new sport faced
. How she became the owner of the New York Sharks, and what that experience was like
. Why she wrote a novel based on her experiences
. What it takes to stick to a dream in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds
. Her perspective on women's sports today
