Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, Grammy® Winner, New York Times Best-Selling Author, co-founder and chief lyricist of The Beach Boys, Mike Love, released a new album, 12 Sides of Summer on July 19th. through BMG. Billboard premiered the first single off the album, a cover of the Ramones' 1977 hit "Rockaway Beach."
12 Sides of Summer features a mix of original songs, covers and fresh takes on classic hits including "Over and Over" by The Dave Clark Five, "On And On And On" by Abba, "Here Comes the Sun," by the Beatles and The Beach Boys' "Surfin," "Surfin' Safari," and "It's Ok," featuring Hanson. This marks Love's second recording with Hanson as they previously collaborated on "Finally it's Christmas" for Love's holiday album, Reason For The Season, released in October 2018. Hanson famously recorded a version of Beach Boys classic "Little St. Nick" for their 1997 Christmas album, "Snowed In."
Prior to Mike's 2018 holiday album, he released Unleash the Love in 2017, a special double album featuring 13 previously unreleased songs and 14 re-recordings of Beach Boys classics to positive acclaim. Furthermore, in 2016, the hit "Good Vibrations," celebrated its 50th anniversary. In honor of this prolific time in the life of The Beach Boys, Love released his highly-anticipated memoir titled GOOD VIBRATIONS: My Life as a Beach Boy, in September 2016- the book made its way to the New York Times Best Seller list immediately following its release.
For more than fifty years, Mike Love has been the lead singer and front man of The Beach Boys taking the sounds of America's band to every corner of the globe- playing for crowds of up to 750,000 fans. Mike has co-authored more than a dozen hit singles, cementing The Beach Boys as one of the only artists to have produced twelve Top 10 Singles within 5 years. With iconic and timeless tracks like "Good Vibrations," "Fun, Fun, Fun," "I Get Around," and "Kokomo," The Beach Boys have created some of the most performed songs in pop music history.
Love continues to perform over 150 sold-out shows year-round across the globe with The Beach Boys. The band will kick off the European leg of their tour on June 14th with stops in Spain, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, France and Belgium. The band is led by Mike Love, longtime member Bruce Johnston who along with musical director Scott Totten, Brian Eichenberger, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Keith Hubacher and Randy Leago, continue the legacy of the iconic group.
