Every year, online retailers receive billions of returned items that are then auctioned off in large pallets to buyers. Extreme Unboxing follows a group of pallet flipping entrepreneurs from across the country who bid on these large boxes of returned, discounted merchandise - sight unseen- in hopes of selling the items within the boxes for big profits. Risking their own money to bid on and win the best boxes at the best prices, pallets are delivered to their homes for the big reveal. Each group digs through hundreds, sometimes thousands, of items on the hunt for retail gold. Whether it is one box or an entire truckload, these savvy super-flippers scour the internet searching for their next big money score. With items ranging from everyday store stock to the weird and wacky, this modern-day treasure hunt is filled with surprises as no one, including the buyers themselves, have any idea what will be inside.

Viewers will watch as each team bets big and reveals the contents of the boxes for what they hope are big profits.

Bobby and Salena focus on selling merchandise they can move easily in their shop--mostly home goods--but that doesn’t stop them from taking chances on huge shipments of bicycles or wedding dresses. Bobby and Salena have two young children and love the chaos that comes with running their own business while providing their community with a good deal and making money doing it.

Being a daily writer for twenty six years you quickly learn the power it has over everything you’re about to accomplish.  If you wake up in a bad mood and put it on paper, there’s a huge chance you’re entire workday will fall into an uncomfortable place.  The same is true if you slip into fake Happy Me and everything coming out is spring cleaned and poetic.  On this podcast episode the goal is to help open your eyes as to why you need to vent but with awareness which gives you the strength to stay focused in the name of not giving up but reaching for the victory.  Today was one of those mornings where I laid out the thought: I’m torn today.  Instantly my creative heart shot into action.  It wanted to know why the honesty was so willing to set itself up for a chosen mindset.  Claiming it was too early to officially declare that we are half way here and half way there.  Which is where?  What are the land markers?  How about the breadcrumbs? Didn’t Hansel and Gretel get into serious trouble because they lost their way?  Since March of 2020 we’ve all been forced to live in a world where the seasons change every day.  There is so much information and news moving through us that we’ve become blind to how we truly feel.  The next step is to make a decision.  But wait!  First a quick peak at social media.  13,000 children in North Carolina have Covid-19.  Why in God’s name am I just hearing this for the first time?  The source is WCNC 36.  Here’s why it hit me in the gut.  This is what a daily writer does.  The children have it.  My wife returns to the classroom that’s not connected to CMS.  I’ve been in a classroom with physical people.  Rightfully with her going back, this is our final weekend of the summer.  Gulp!  No wonder I wrote first thing: I’m torn today.  Torn because as a creative person do I stop all things in forward motion and take the day off to do nothing or go about my day just like I’ve been doing through this entire nightmare with Covid?  All creative people have one thing in common.  Most don’t talk about it.  If you don’t feed your creative monster daily, it bites, scratches, cusses and makes up stories that poison common sense.  This is why I daily write.  To learn about this person like we do in novels and movies.  A frickin character!  As a writer it’s pretty fun to sit back and see how those in the story play it out.  Within seconds your bad mood, uneasy day or giant wall on the path seems to go away.  Live your life.  Share your story with yourself.  Be truthful to the moment of Now.  You’ve got this!  Even on days when you feel torn.

I remember standing at the front door of this Covid-19 journey trying to figure out what to do as a Broadcaster that would keep creative people in front of fans and followers.  Because art is such a huge part of my journey I knew there was no way that others like me could shut this stuff off.  

In building this platform, it’s been the most amazing ride through the experiences others are wading through.  In the beginning musicians told me they wouldn’t write.  Authors were upset because their book tours were set aside.  Actors were horrified that their source of freedom during this new golden era of binge watching would dwindle to nothing.  

When it all seems bleak and flatter than the earth is said to be… you hear stories.  New beginnings.  Perseverance, passion, hardcore drive and no fear.  

So what does all of this have to do with Frank Hannon and Red Voodoo?

I’m going to share the full conversation.  Uncut.  As is.  Because it’s so amazing how the world can stop.  But you can’t keep the Rock from rolling.

Life is the story.  There I said it.  Life is the story.  Not the moment.  It requires a huge collection of those.  Good, bad, predictable and wow even those that came from out of nowhere.  Life is the story.  I not only live by that rule but I feed off the follow up sentence.  Share your story or someone will write it for you.  There you go!  Now you know why I endlessly reach out to share conversations with every source of creative energy.  You’re sharing your story so someone doesn’t have to write it for you.  I honestly believe I picked up on that way of life because I questioned our place in people’s lives. Why do we allow other people to write our obituary? It should be a self-requirement.  Do it yourself.  On this podcast episode it’s my goal to help open your sense of direction by introducing you to a writing instrument.  A pen.  Not just any pen but one spotted on the ground at the outdoor movie drive inn.  Writing instruments are like fallen feathers to me. They find us.  This is a true story.  The night before a huge Christian concert was held.  The branding on the outside of the pen says Health Share Altrua.  Got that?  Pen.  Ground.  Health Care establishment printed on side. This is how other people write your story.  In my own creative way I saw this pen with a medical name printed on it.  It was located on the ground where a Christian concert was performed.  First thing I thought was frontline worker.  Needed to break away from the daily stress of Covid and took in the word of God at a concert. While reaching for their water bottle on a sizzling Carolina night to take a sip the pen fell from their pocket where a writer spots it 24 hours later.  I picked it up at sunset and used it in my daily writing at sunrise.  Now you’re here connected to the journey.  Life is the story.  A raindrop set free on a mountainside always has the opportunity to reach an ocean shore.  I want to hear that story.  A seed becomes a tree.  Forty years later it gives its life to become a sheet of paper.  Words or art are placed on it.  The expression is shared with the passerby.  That’s the story that brings true joy to people’s hearts.  Share your story or someone will write it for you.  Don’t make up the story.  Don’t bend the limbs of an actual event.  The empowerment of entering each day is knowing that no two days will ever be the same.  Bring forward your change by accepting that your Now is becoming tomorrow’s adventure.

A two week old fawn and its mothers came within six feet of where I was sitting.  I couldn’t take my eyes off the most innocent pair of eyes.  I was stunned by their lack of fear but more amazed at how much it felt like they were carrying something much larger than a greeting.  On this podcast episode we travel back to my daily writing of July 5, 2020.  A moment of question.  We were observing Independence Day but we weren’t celebrating it like years past.  The best reason we held was social distancing.  But that wasn’t the entire picture.  The protesting and riots were on the rise during a season already labeled uncertain times.  I wrote about going directly to my book of Totems.  To study the story behind the visitation.  The deer clear had something with them that could be described as being larger than a greeting.  When the deer shows up, it means you’ve been involved in some aggressive negative circumstances and need to seek out safe nurturing situations with people.  Trust your gut instinct.  Present are many different paths.  Be gentle with yourself and others.  The nation as a whole held onto the images projected across our social media and local news channels.  On the day of our nation the rise in protests and rioting was the aggressive negative circumstance. One that very few of us spoke of.  We stood on the sidelines patiently trying to wait this out.  Now that we’re entering the front door of August it still looms over who’ve become and continue to grow into.  Today the invitation is to protect your paths.  Your choices. Your actions and reactions.  Protect them by being gentle not only with yourself but others.  I heard a quote on television last night that can be used as a tool for the potential of there being a place of healing.  The day the world stopped was the day we found someplace to go.  My response to that in my de-frag journal was, “This new age of freedom is to do all we can not to back to normal.  I call it reckless acceptable behavior.  We are holding onto it because we temporarily have an excuse for anything that feels insane.  We are who we are because it’s been shaped by choice.  Make your steps today gentle for yourself and others.

A book.  Written by Kobe Bryant.  Talking about the struggles all athletes face during their race to become the best.  The reason why it fits perfect on Play It Forward is because of the current sports conditions from high school to college right into the pros.  

Victoria Garrick is a former Division I and semi-pro volleyball player for the #1 ranked volleyball team in the nation (University of Southern California) where she earned the title for top 5 most digs in USC history. 

Victoria is the founder of The Hidden Opponent.  She addresses the book's important messages about mental health and the struggles young athletes face such as depression, anger, alcohol abuse and even suicidal thoughts.  

After reading Geese Are Never Swans I began asking an old question.  The view of today’s sports world.  I ask, “Where are your kids?  Not just physically somewhere but mentally.”

Many times on this podcast we’ve talked about the evolution of the digital performance.  The original idea of your episodes endlessly endure the power of the creative mind by reshaping itself into a journey of chance taking meeting up with trying to catch up.  

I knew when I started Pod-Crashing that it wasn’t going stand still.  Which is why I find tremendous joy in this art form.  The canvas never dries.  The first 54 episodes were fed by a vision to help share the paint.  To be present by showcasing the importance of creating a community with other podcasters while lifting the quality of what we assumed was the best we could do.  

Adding the conversations with other podcasters has been a true adventure.  We all have different stories and experiences and through each episode we grow closer together while making the podcasting world a little safer for the listeners ears.

Because I’m a silent wolf.  Which is a universal way of saying I’m a people watcher.  Making myself aware of all things that become the elements inside our present place, I pay close attention to the waves of energy flowing through each person I meet.  We’ve stopped asking questions.  We don’t have a problem making decisions.  We just don’t ask questions.  The making of the zombie.  Your eyes are glossy.  Your arms hang down.  Your shoulders are killing you because it’s become your new walk.  On this podcast episode I ask a lot of questions. I rip off the blinders we once wore to get us through the downpours before Covid and we dive into the presence of what can be done in a world where everything is out of control.  Wait.  Not in your world.  It’s all good.  Take off the sunglasses and get a good look at what happens to the soil when a farmer takes his tractor and hoe to the edge and starts flipping the dirt.  What happens if?  We should then ask, “When did it happen?”  Why did it happen? How and where did it happen?  Thanks to global news outlets and the internet the world is very small.  Every event unfolding anywhere on the planet feels like our backyard.  Any place can become a hot spot for protests and riots.  In that moment of several different sides joining as one, someone’s not asking about the Coronavirus Covid-19.  Who’s in charge? I’m not pointing fingers at a president of other global leader.  Who’s controlling the chaos?  Ask yourself!  Is this meant to be a spiritual journey?  Are we being tested by a laughing creator?  Has something extremely dark hacked into God’s company computer and it’s messing up our streets of gold?  Who’s in charge?  And in that moment of putting that sentence on paper I heard in my heart, “We are.”  We’re making decisions without asking questions.  We’re burping up everything wrong without developing a solution.  We’re making on demand choices.  Living life like we binge watch television.  Who’s in charge?  We are.  Big chance the little ones in your life are asking some serious questions about school and how their new tomorrow is going to look.  Do you make up stories to help soothe their wandering hearts? If you’re lucky enough to get through this storm you’re grandkids are going to ask you about the great big sickness and the reason why it spread like wildfire.  What will you say when they ask “But who was in charge?”  I’m not looking forward to the day when I reply, “We were.  And I’m so sorry that we didn’t put focus on making it better.”  We are…

I’m amazed at how we’ve evolved into a generation where we feel our voices do need to be heard.  For some, that’s good.  For others?  I can still hear my father, “You better watch what you say.”  Kids do say the darndest thing!  Adults feel like they can just say it.  One problem though and we’re going to talk about it on this podcast episode.  The further we get into this Coronavirus journey the more natural we are becoming with our emotions.  Natural meaning we aren’t taking it anymore.  You know, using that high parent like voice that peacefully whispers “This too shall pass.”  That fake smile and positive attitude and outlook.  We are becoming more natural with our emotions.  Reality is getting pretty heavy.  The actuality of our daily acceptance is growing thin.  As people, we feel we can say anything we want and or make facial expressions that send others into areas they can no longer control.  When I pray, write and meditate it’s a daily choice to truly be positive.  It’s not fake because the goal is to activate positive not only in my life and anything that I come in contact with.  Our imaginations are locked in on inventing trouble.  To soothe the situation we hit Amazon or Walmart.  Guess what.  The deeper we travel into this socially distanced business world the poorer we are getting.  We are going to learn the hard way that happiness cannot be purchased.  Crap!  You mean we have to figure this out?  The acceptance of our behavior is starting to get an image.  A picture that’s teaching our kids and friends that it must be ok to be mean and or so disappointed with life that I’m gonna revert back to my two year old self and throw a huge fit.  Stop right here.  Clear your head.  Stop.  The next sentence is gonna fly over your head and heart.  You ready?  We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control.  Let me say it again.  We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control.  How do we fix it?  When you’ve been given the clearance to speak openly the idea of bringing it to a close is almost impossible.  Until something happens that could’ve been controlled.  We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control.  When employees finally get back to work they’re gonna need to take special classes based on practicing self-control. Businesses are going to need more than sanitizer and wipes.  Mental sickness is hitting America and nobody wants to get it under control.  We are in control of what we say in a world where the pandemic has us out of control.

I’ve always been a people watcher.  It’s helped me become a better broadcaster.  Studying the real people patterns of those who may listen to your radio show or podcast.  To listen to their conversations from a nearby seat.  Not nosey!  Aware.  Becoming part of my community by not speaking.  Just listening to what people are saying, watching what they’re doing and amazed by their actions and reactions.  On this podcast episode we’re gonna go inside your personal journey.  Long before the Covid thunder we were already lockup inside our head and heart.  This is who you are in the morning.  This is how you evolve by lunch.  Then at night this is who you might become depending on the dog, cat and kids.  We’ve got to start removing the divisions.  People may like the nighttime you but man those in your circle have also got to cherish your morning breath.  Remove the divisions.  Arroe in the recording studio is not Arroe the daily writer who isn’t Arroe the husband and Arroe the concerned citizen.  Remove the divisions.  You experience it every day and make the choice to live with it.  Those several layers of thought and personalities that go with each.  At the drop of a hat your mood changes and sometimes you keep your cool.  Remove the divisions.  Know how far you can push your cool.  In fact why even approach the challenge?  Know what you like, dislike, believe in and no longer trust.  Today’s news headlines are a torrential downpour on your life and personality.  We go to them to check in.  To catch up.  To attempt to stay ahead.  Take that blow torch and remove that smartphone from your hand.  We don’t need to know about Johnny Depp in court.  He’s not checking his phone to see how your day went.  Remove the divisions.  Your mind has been overtaken by something bigger than the Federal Cops in Portland and soon to be Chicago and Albuquerque.  Albuquerque?  When did they become the bad ass dot on the map?  Really Albuquerque?  Remove the divisions.  Start with yourself then let it grow beyond your moment of now.  The very second you jump into a new mood or mindset it reminds the world that the TV show The United States of Tara is nothing more than a photograph of who we really are.  Remove the divisions and stop disappearing.

Here we are!  Smack dab in the middle of the summer of 2020.  Still quarantined.  It’s made many of us totally stir crazy.  62% of us haven’t taken a time out to travel since this social distancing journey started.  

I’m one of them.  I’m a huge RVer and the camping has been shoved to the back burner.  According to Dr. Mike Dow that’s not such a healthy idea.  The question that bogs us all down is how safe is it out there?  How can we protect ourselves?

The plane went down in October 1972.  A rain storm.  Nearly five decades later the cause of the crash and the plane's location - remain a mystery. 

Missing In Alaska lays out more questions.  What happened to Representatives Hale Boggs from Louisiana and Nick Begich from Alaska?  The pilot and a political aide boarded a plane traveling from Anchorage to Juneau on a campaign swing for Alaska's only congressman.

In THE POLITICS INDUSTRY Porter and Gehl outline how American’s blame political dysfunction – federal, state & local – for limiting and even holding back American competitiveness and our ability to strengthen the U.S. economy.  They then apply Porter's distinctive Five Forces framework to analyze the system and offer key areas of NON-PARTISAN change, political innovation, and action that could improve America’s political system and ability to compete globally.

Political innovation changes include:

Re-engineer the “elections machinery” with Final-Five Voting.  This two-step innovation replaces party primaries with a single nonpartisan primary in which the top five finishers, regardless of party, advance to the general election. This allows legislators more freedom to focus on results in the public interest without constant fear of getting “primaried.” It also creates more competition in the general election with a broader field of candidates and the ability to debate borader issues.

Re-engineer the “elections machinery” by replacing single-candidate voting in the general election with “Ranked-Choice Voting,” which allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference so candidate who appeals to the broadest majority wins.

Re-engineer the “legislative machinery” to eliminate partisan control of House and Senate rules and processes thereby allowing proposed legislation to be debated and voted on.  Institute zero- based rule making.  Much of today’s political system has no basis in the Constitution at all - the rules are optimized or designed by politicians.

Open up competition, without waiting for structural reforms.  End the duopoly of political parties – Democrats and Republicans need to operate under a potential threat from competitors.

Will anyone remember?  With so much endlessly being pushed at us in the headlines, will anyone remember that SpaceX blasted two men toward the International Space Station?  Will we remember the huge dust cloud from the Sahara?  What will the impact of the cloud have on our yards and the mountain forests?  On this podcast episode we jump into the subject of what it’s like to be a living thing inside a living thing.  The planet.  The universe.  We are no different than that dust cloud.  Each of us are a spec of dust.  We’ve collected in circles and continue to push ourselves across this lay of land.  Just because we aren’t in the atmosphere doesn’t mean we still can’t participate with future change.  In everything we’ve been through in 2020 how much of it is completely natural?  The human had nothing to do with the shape of its story.  Yet we turned it into a headline. I compare the existence of my forest to our present place in the journey.  When I first came in contact with this place on the map it was badly beaten up by acid rain and whatever else big cities invite to the neighborhood.  Between 1992 and the present I’ve patiently worked one on one with all things natural to keep this huge collection of trees protected.  From understanding erosion to tree diseases that come unexpectedly.  While writing I asked “What if I had let nature do what it’s best known for?  Instead of reaching out to help rejuvenate the soil, should I have let it replenish itself?  As if to generate its own journey.”  I compare that to our present way of living with social distancing.  Businesses still aren’t open.  Not even churches.  The experts are feverishly working on relieving the pressure but the elements that make up our business world aren’t participating.  Meaning us.  All of these deeply dedicated decision makers busting tail to create a path for each of us to return to what feels like normal and yet the roots of what makes a company a success story has very little physical determination to want to participate with the right way to rebuild America.  My wife is a school teacher that’s been called back to the classroom for summer school.  Her job includes being on the bus to pick up the students.  To take their temperature before they climb onboard.  Yesterday she watched as other children not going to summer school made fun of those who were going.  Today those that were laughed at weren’t at the bus stop. Where are the forest farmers?  Where are the leaders that hold people accountable?  Having a voice in July 2020 doesn’t have to be a protest where bricks are being thrown into windows that don’t belong to us.  Having a true concern for our soil is essential in an age of uncertainty.  I talk often with my school teacher wife about the total impact of students not getting an education.  I also talk about how a certain area of our forest isn’t responding to the atmosphere and we need to pay closer attention to the trees survival.  By 11pm I’m so mentally torched by the process of existence that the game becomes the original question, “Will anyone remember?”

It’s been too easy to get caught up and lost.  The headlines are moving toward us twice the speed of light and no matter how many times Google Calendar mentions it’s a new month, every day feels pretty much the same.  You can see it in people’s eyes. We’re getting bored with this pandemic.  

It’s moments of decision making like this that knocks us off the path. Gonna get a little heavier than normal on this episode.  Not that opioid addiction, homelessness, injustice and mental sickness aren’t up there in the Top 5 when it comes to things we just aren’t gonna talk about.  But we have and will continue to roll forward because in all things normal, this is what’s going on behind the headlines in our own living quarters.

The North Atlantic Bluefin Tuna is one of the most valuable fish in the world with prices reaching as high as $20,000 for a single catch. This also means a tight quota to avoid overfishing and encourage sustainability. To win big, fishermen must reel in the biggest tuna as fast as possible -- but each boat is allowed one catch per day and must reel them in by hand, resulting in a backbreaking battle that can last for hours (these monster tuna can weigh more than 1,000 lbs.) With the livelihood of their families on the line and generations of tradition behind them, these families of fishermen will rely on each other and work together towards a shared goal. 

In Discovery’s new series All on the Line, two crews in the fishing town of Gloucester, Mass., are fighting to land monster tuna and keep their family businesses going through the winter. As the weather worsens, the fish get bigger and the stakes get higher. It’s the ultimate battle of man versus beast as these fishermen risk everything to bring home a monster payday. All on the Line spotlights the dynamic between these two groups as they band together in an industry that otherwise demands fierce, sometimes cutthroat, competition.

A former Grateful Dead road crew member, the legendary, loud and larger-than-life fisherman, Johnny Johnson, assembled a tight-knit crew in his hunt for record tuna. Touring with the band in the early 80s, Johnny saw the world before ending up in Hawaii where he discovered yellowfin tuna fishing.
