Yellowstone chronicles the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Cole Hauser is best known for his roles in the films School Ties, Dazed and Confused, Good Will Hunting, Pitch Black, Tigerland, Hart's War, Tears of the Sun, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Cave, The Break-Up, A Good Day to Die Hard, Olympus Has Fallen, and Transcendence. He starred as Officer Randy Willitz on the police crime drama series High Incident and Ethan Kelly on the police drama Rogue.

Kelly Reilly’s starred in the second season of HBO's True Detectiveas Jordan Semyon, the wife of Vince Vaughn's character Frank Semyon. Reilly’s other roles include Mary Watson in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in 2011. In 2012, Reilly appeared opposite Sam Rockwell in A Single Shot and had a leading role in Robert Zemeckis' Flight opposite Denzel Washington. Reilly also starred in the short-lived ABC series Black Box.
