Raised in Lenexa, KS he spent his summers at the “Lake of the Ozarks” where he developed a passion for the WATER and BOATS. Learned to PILOT A BOAT AT AGE 11, though his mother made him wear a BIKE HELMET. NOT COOL. SOCCER and MUSIC dominated his youth. Captain of his high school soccer team, he won TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Matt was named one of CMA’s “WHO TO WATCH” and received the “DISCOVERY AWARD” from country’s leading critic Robert K. Oermann. A graduate of the University of Tampa, where he received a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and a B.A. in Digital Art and Computer Animation. EVER MET ANYONE WITH THOSE TWO DEGREES? Once took a group of college friends on a BOAT ADVENTURE IN FLORIDA. Not an expert at OCEAN TIDES, Matt walked out of a darn good beach party to find his board boat in 4 of water. His MOTHER is a MARATHON RUNNER, having completed NINE MARATHONS. His diminutive yet BULLYING BIG BROTHER has completed 3 IRONMAN TRIATHLONS. Matt’s job is on the support team with a beer in his hand yelling go faster! People describe Matt as LAID BACK, EASY GOING and LIVES BY THE TRUTH. As his brother says “he sometimes lacks a filter.” Musical influences include Keith URBAN, Kenny CHESNEY, and fellow Midwesterner David Nail.
