Mr. Skin has turned TWENTY and Jim "Mr. Skin" McBride has written his tell-all autobiography on how a suburban teen turned his love of seeing celebrity skin into a multi-million-dollar empire, building the world's largest online database of TV & movie scenes (more than 43,000 to date).
In honor of the 20th anniversary of Mr. Skin this year, Jim McBride has released his memoir BEING MR. SKIN: 20 Years of Nip Slips, Cheek Peeks and Fast Forwarding to the Good Parts (out MAY 21st), but 'Skin's' obsession with celeb nudity actually started back in 1980, the year his parents got their first VCR and cable TV. The lethal combo of the two innovations was too much for a then 16-year-old McBride, who began recording and memorizing every nude scene he came across to add to his collection. Today, more than 10 million fans flock to Mr. Skin each month to see their favorite stars in their birthday suits. The married father of 3 would love the opportunity to appear and talk on the following and more:
. He was just a regular suburban kid until he found cable and the VCR (or even a beta recorder).
. In College: Jim was a Sorority House Boy! Yep, he worked in a sorority house
. After graduating he worked at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and developed this superhuman ability regarding nude scenes
. Early 30s: drifting, unsure of what to do, moved back in with parents, even attempted male modeling, then someone called about making a website.
. The process of putting the site together, the first year in his studio apartment loading movie scenes all by himself
. Howard Stern gave Mr. Skin the "Big Bang": The 2000 appearance on Howard forever changed his life, the site, and the actual Internet as a whole. "Mr. Skin" instantly became world famous, a recognized brand name, and a pop culture phenomenon.
. Seven years later, when Judd Apatow wanted to put Mr. Skin in the movie 'KNOCKED UP', the first thing he said was, "I heard Mr. Skin on Howard Stern!"-and that's what he still says today any time the question comes up. How much did Skin get paid for his site to be featured in 'Knocked Up'?
. Home life, three kids, two of whom are teenagers now.
. The BALANCE - The day-to-day Mr. Skin routine as described in the book: waking up early, doing Mr. Skin work in the basement, cooking breakfast for the kids, going into the office where its nonstop nudity, coming home to the peaceful suburbs.
