There will be 96 puppies from 61 shelters representing over 25 states across the country making this PUPPY BOWL bigger and better than ever before. Five furry players have special needs including one three-legged puppy, two hearing impaired puppies, one blind and hearing impaired puppy, and a puppy with a cleft palate. There are also more international puppies than ever from Cartagena, Colombia, Toronto, Canada, and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The puppies are competing for the famed and fan-voted title of BISSELL® MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) as well as the coveted CHEWY Lombarky Trophy. But don’t forget that there is also the fan-favorite, Underdog Award as well! Additionally, Puppy Bowl XVI welcomes new and improved team colors for Team Ruff and Team Fluff from yellow and green to ‘Bark Blue’ and ‘Tail Mary Tangerine’. For first time ever, viewers can tune-in to the GEICO Puppy Bowl Draft, to get an early look and the top picks for TEAM RUFF and TEAM FLUFF. Crowds can flock to the Animal Planet and PUPPY BOWL Facebook pages while also following the action from players in real time on Animal Planet’s Twitter and Instagram feeds. Also, tune-in to Animal Planet on Saturday, February 1st for PUPPY BOWL PRESENTS: THE DOG BOWL III, returning with more than 60 adoptable dogs ranging between the ages of 3-14 years old.
After 9 years as the only human on a field of adorable adoptable animals, being the PUPPYBOWL Ref has become a full-time job for Dan Schachner. A longtime advocate for dog fostering, Dan continues to provide a stop for pups who are crowded out of the shelters but still in need of a forever home. Using social media to get the word out, he is happy to report 100% adoption rate for all of his former fosters.
