I’m a stream thinker.  Free form writer.  I exercise it every day.  One thought.  A ten minute window.  No editing.  Go!  And from it comes a question “When does having nothing wake us up?”  We are the generation that’s been given everything.  We’re now facing a moment in history where having nothing is quite possible.  But will it wake us up?  The picture painted on the flat screen and or social media is that of a generation of uncertainty yet when you stop outside in the realm of reality everybody’s still shopping, getting married and headed to the beach.  There’s no change in the new normal.  If you watch the news like I do.  What’s being presented doesn’t match what’s being played out beyond your smart phone.  The curtains don’t match the carpet.  When does having nothing wake us up?  The world isn’t the same.  Why aren’t people acting that way?  We are hiding from the inevitable.  When will we begin to embrace?  I once thought the leader of this nation would when he got Covid.  Now that his lawyer has been hit with it maybe that would be an open door for global compassion.  We’ve not reached that level of having nothing.  Unless you truly look at the food bank lines.  What about the eviction letters that are pushing families out in the cold?  The number of people now living in their cars.  The world of news is harsh when they say “We are headed into the darkest of our times.”  The thought of that should scare you back to making better decisions while utilizing the strength of common sense.  When does having nothing wake us up?  What do you have to lose to finally grip the circumstances?  I hope nothing.  The goal should be to become more aware of the importance of not only your life but others.  80% of California is on lockdown.  The vaccine is still sitting in bottles waiting for approval.  The reality of this bite is connected to the plastic coated bathroom mirror smiles that simply say “Keep it positive.”  When it comes to paying the bills how’s that working out for ya?  Change and challenge have arrived.  Take it on.
