Lea DeLaria

I've always believed there's a story behind the face of fame. Once there the goal is to unplug what we've already read in People Magazine and hook up with the true authors of sight and sound. When you listen to the people you interview... you locate the openings that lead to incredible stories about working with David Bowie. From the iHeart Radio Studio I'm Unplugged and Totally Uncut with Lea DeLaria Lionsgate Home Entertainment has officially announced and detailed its upcoming Blu-ray release of Orange Is the New Black: Season Two. The three-disc set will be available for purchase on May 19. Orange is the New Black is a fierce and funny series that follows Piper Chapman (Schilling) when a crime she committed in her past sends her to an all-women's prison with an unforgettable and irreverent group of fellow inmates. Shocking revelations and new arrivals shake up the lives and relationships of Litchfield's prisoners in this highly anticipated second season. Based on the best-selling memoir by Piper Kerman, the hugely popular dark comedy from "Weeds" creator Jenji Kohan is a groundbreaking show and winner of the Best Comedy Series at the Critics' Choice Awards, as well as Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy at the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Orange is the New Black: Season Two stars Taylor Schilling (Argo, The Lucky One), Uzo Aduba (TV's "How to Live Like a Lady"), Danielle Brooks (upcoming Angry Birds), Michael J. Harney (Showtime's "Weeds," HBO's "True Detective"), Lea DeLaria, Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, G.B.F.), and Taryn Manning (TV's "Sons of Anarchy"), with Kate Mulgrew (TV's "Star Trek: Voyager") and Jason Biggs (American Pie franchise), as well as guest stars Laverne Cox (Grandma), Matt McGorry (TV's "How to Get Away with Murder"), Dascha Polanco (Gimme Shelter), Pablo Schreiber (TV's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Showtime's "Weeds"), Yael Stone (Me Myself I), Samira Wiley (The Sitter), Laura Prepon (TV's "That '70s Show"), Maria Dizzia (While We're Young), and newest inmate Lorraine Toussaint (Selma). Timed to the series' third-season premiere, Orange Is the New Black: Season Two will include all 13 episodes on a three-disc Blu-ray and four-disc DVD set, packed with bonus materials fans will love, such as numerous featurettes that dive deep into the emotional backstories of some of your favorite cast members (including an entire featurette dedicated to Litchfield's newest inmate, Vee Parker, played by Lorriane Toussaint). Also go behind-the-scenes to the writer's room and take a tour of Litchfield Prison with author Piper Kerman and production designer Michael Shaw. Special Features: Audio commentaries with cast and crew (on episodes "Hugs Can Be Deceiving" and "You Also Have a Pizza") (Blu-ray and DVD exclusive) "Back Before the Potato Sack" featurette "Orange Peeled" featurette "A Walk Around the Block" featurette "The VEE.I.P. Treatment" featurette ABOUT LEA DELARIA Lea DeLaria has distinguished herself in every form of entertainment that she touches – Jazz Musician, Broadway Diva, Actor, Writer and Stand-Up Comic – and it is plain to see why Ben Brantley of the New York Times describes Lea as “…every inch a star.” “…a thorn in the side of those with both neo-con and right on orthodoxies.” --The Guardian (UK) LEA DELARIA seems to have achieved overnight stardom with her stand-out role as Big Boo in the Netflix hit series Orange is the New Black. And while she went from being able to walk around a city with the occasional “hey it’s you” to not being able to walk into a Dollar Store in a suburb without getting asked for a picture, the fact is, Lea has been a professional lesbian for 30 years. Before that, she freelanced. Lea was the first queer comic to perform on television in America which launched her into world recognition. Prior to her success on Orange she was seen in countless TV series (Awkward, Californication, The Oblongs, One Live to Live, Law and Order SVU, Will and Grace, Friends to name a few), and movies (First Wives Club, Dear Dumb Diary, Edge of Seventeen), with appearances on and off Broadway that have and continue to garner her recognition and acclaim. Her on and off Broadway credits are too numerous to mention, but stand outs include her appearance on Broadway in “On the Town,” which she won Obie and Theatre World awards, as well as a Drama Desk nomination; an Ovation nomination for her appearance in the “Boys from Syracuse;” and playing both Edie AND Doctor Scott in" The Rocky Horror Show." If that’s not enough, Lea has five, records out on the Warner Jazz and Classics label and her book “Lea’s Book of Rules for the World” is in its third printing at Bantam Doubleday and Dell.
