Gary Hoey OHoly Night
Imagine being invited to travel to Los Angeles to audition for Ozzy Osbourne's band. When the guitar becomes part of your body and you a string from its soul. Amazing things begin to play. Celebrating 20 years of adding a rock edge to Christmas music is what this's man's been up to. And 2015 is no different. From the iHeart Radio Studio I'm Unplugged and Totally Uncut with legendary guitarist Gary Hoey.
Gary has contributed a previously unreleased recording of "O Holy Night" to a new holiday CHARITY CD, "A Blue Elan Christmas." 100% of the profits from “A Blue Elan Christmas” will be donated to The Alliance For Children’s Rights, an organization that protects the rights of impoverished, abused and neglected children and youth, specifically those in the foster care system. By providing free legal services and advocacy, the Alliance ensures children have safe, stable homes, healthcare and the education they need to thrive. To date, The Alliance has served more than 125,000 at-risk children in its 21-year history.
After the guitar virtuoso’s success with a top 5 Billboard hit in 1993 with his cover of “Hocus Pocus”, Hoey transformed the world of Christmas music by applying his fiery guitar techniques to what would be the first Ho Ho Hoey album in 1995. 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of Gary Hoey’s very popular Ho Ho Hoey Christmas music and tour. 20 years ago, Gary recorded his first Ho Ho Hoey album on an eight track digital recorder in his bedroom after his mom said, “you need to record a nice Christmas album.” and he replied, "no mom, I need to record a rockin’ Christmas album." Little did he know he would be the first to adapt instrumental rock guitar to Christmas Classics, creating a tradition at rock radio stations and homes around the world. After selling hundreds of thousands of copies, what Gary is most proud of, is all the fundraisers, food drives, clothing drives, Toys for Tots, helping the Wounded Warriors and American veterans that’s what makes the last 20 years so special.
The Ho Ho Hoey Complete Collection includes 37 Hoey-ized holiday songs into a two-disc set. Some of Hoey’s holiday highlights include two songs featured in Hallmark’s musical greeting cards, “Jingle Bells” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” “Deck The Halls” was featured in the movie, “Deck The Halls” starring Danny Devito. This year marks his 7th Annual Ho Ho Hoey Guitar Give-Away of an autographed Squier Stratocaster by Fender on Christmas Day. Visit www.garyhoey.com for more details.
