After Myra’s father, Mendek Rubin, passed in 2012, she completed his unpublished manuscript about his life as a Holocaust survivor and inspiring inventor in search of healing. As one of the only surviving members of his family, despite having no money or professional skills, Mendek set out to curate the life of prosperity and wholeness he knew was possible. While his hard work and inventions revolutionized both the jewelry and packaged salad industries in the US, his hopeful spirit was the catalyst to his eventual emotional and spiritual healing. As a second-generation survivor of the Holocaust, Myra is able to speak to the impact of transgenerational trauma, depicting impossible traumas in writing, the experience of researching her late father’s inspiring life, and the possibility of a life of joy and freedom after unimaginable trials.
