Megan Allen is an exciting new voice and talented young author whose first book, The Slave Players (2017), became a sleeper success thanks in large part to its condemnation by the Imperial Grand Wizard of the KKK, who called her “racist against her own race” and encouraged violence against her.

THE MEAT HUNTER, like Allen's debut novel, is a chilling and provocative page-turner that leads readers to interrogate what it means to be a passive observer to everyday brutalities. Allen's protagonist, Molly Bishop, is anything but passive. The daughter of a Midwestern pig farmer, she wants vengeance on the hoggers who torture and kill animals for profit. To Molly, those who commit gruesome acts against innocent, helpless creatures deserve to know what it feels like to be treated like meat. Molly, a cool and beautiful young woman who uses her feminine wiles to gain the trust of her victims before taking her revenge, might remind readers of some of Quentin Tarantino's morally ambiguous but admirably fierce female characters.
