Heavy metal band ZombieKing drops their latest EP, Dead to Life, via Pavement Entertainment. The EP was recorded and mixed at Hammer Forged Records in Corpus Christi, Texas, and mastered at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden by Jens Bogren. Produced by Robert Beltran, this EP is packed with unique music which takes influence from both traditional and contemporary heavy metal/rock.
Vocalist Juan Manuel says, "Dead to Life can best be described as an addict finally hitting rock bottom. During the writing process, ZombieKing had to overcome multiple personnel changes, lost loved ones and family members to suicide/drugs/disease, and all while facing our own personal demons. Dead to Life captures our thoughts and emotions from the past few years, and uses them to spread a message of Hope, Faith, Perseverance, and Redemption."
Dead to Life marks a major turning point for ZombieKing. Manuel says,"Much like the addict's realization, for the band, this is our new beginning. This is our 'only way to go is up' moment. This EP is ZombieKing bringing the dead to life."
In addition to the new EP, ZombieKing premieres the music video for the single "Dead at the Scene." Ideas for the song dates back several years. Manuel explains, "In 2016, lead guitarist Eddie Salinas brought his bag of riffs to practice and showed the band what he felt would become part of the ZombieKing debut album."
Loss propelled the band forward. Manuel adds, "It wasn't until the summer of 2017–following the deaths of rock legends Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington–that the band would return to those ideas and form what would eventually become the lead single from Dead to Life. Drawing inspiration from our fallen heroes, we then aspired to write about the tough and very personal topic of depression, and how it is possible to overcome."
Manuel says, "The music video for 'Dead at the Scene' demonstrates the struggles that someone dealing with loss, depression, addiction, or anxieties may face on a daily basis."
Hailing from Robstown, Texas, ZombieKing formed back in 2013. They have shared the stage with many established acts, including As Lions, Alien Ant Farm, Hawthorne Heights, and Powerman5000. The lineup consists of Juan Manuel (Vocalist), Eddie Salinas (Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Andrew Garza (Bass Guitar), and Cosme Williams (Drums).
